Princeton University Class of 2022 SCEA Applicants Thread

@sospas what do you mean by fill out your financial aid? Is it talking about the PFAA or something else? Did you not fill your PFAA by the deadline?

@mediokra could you refer the threads where you read this?

No there is no apparent correlation between getting a fin aid email and an acceptance. Although some people do get accepted, there are others that are not.

@IlluminatiIsReal Here you go: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/princeton-university/1626739-missing-princeton-financial-aid-application.html

@smmonsa I doubt it is a 100% perfect pattern, but it certainly an interesting phenomenon. Something to at least speculate about while we all wait.

@mediokra There does seem to be a strong correlation. Congrats to the people who got the email!

I’m not sure whether the correlation is 100% or not, but in my son’s case this past year (in the RD round), he received a reminder to submit the PFAA (which we had completely missed) in MARCH. The reminder coming that late just before the official admissions announcements could have meant only one thing, and our guess was corroborated in April. The same thing happened with UPenn, I believe, with the same result. But then I do recall someone stating that, in the case of Princeton, there is no 100% correlation with actual evidences to prove the point.

If they are supposed to be need blind in admissions why would the status of the Pfaa be anything they would need to have before sending out acceptances especially during Scea period?

@burghdad I would think that the main/only reason that they would need that information is to provide the financial aid award at the time of admittance.

Anyone have insight into what it means for my counselor to receive an email asking for my first quarter grades? Did anyone else get this?

I thought they made financial aid packages for everyone regardless of admittance or not… i guess only time will tell

@roboticsismylife I’m pretty sure that’s just a reminder to add the midterm report which has senior grades on it.

@roboticsismylife My counselor got emailed too! I’ve heard this could be a good sign but I’m not quite sure what it means either

On the portal, it says that we may submit additional supporting documents, and it lists non-academic LoR’s as an option. However, on the Common App, it says my non-academic LoR was already downloaded by them, meaning there would be no reason for me to submit that again right? I’m guessing the “Supporting Documents” is primarily reserved for art portfolios?

If you have 1st Quarter/1st trimester Grades I believe Princeton wants them. If they know your HS has them then they may ask for them.

@SamuelChurro You can use it for a number of things. My D uploaded her unofficial college transcripts and information about her research she did through a local university.

My child’s counselor was asked yesterday for AP scores, even though self-reporting is optional AND my child did self-report on the common application. Any thoughts on why the counselor received this request? Good sign/bad sign/ or neutral?

Hey I am a fencer from Nigeria who is rank one in the country and is on the National team for fencing. I had an email string with the coach but I havent received a likely letter yet. Will I still receive the letter?

I had an interview 2 years ago and the interviewer said that I have a unique perspective on things (I’m not American) but I still got rejected. Just goes to show how ambiguous the interviews really are. Don’t stress out too much about them. I have applied once again this year though

Can I still add supplemental materials or is it too late?

You still can, but they might not review it. I don’t know when the cutoff was. What were you planning on submitting?

These next two weeks will be the longest of my life
