so I was reading last year’s report(https://www.princeton.edu/news/2017/12/13/princeton-offers-early-action-admission-799-students-class-2022). Out of a pool of 5402 students who applied REA they admitted 799 kids, and out of that 799 only 11 percent are international. Does that mean my chance of getting in is roughly (700*0.11)/5402 which is about 1.6 percent?? t-2days kinda losing my mind here
Probably just nerves in the last two days leading up to decisions, but is not a good sign if my counselor did not receive any progress report request from Princeton yet? I have heard that this is correlated with acceptance, which worries me.
Please help calm my nerves, or make them worse Thank you all
Which country? @hharry27
Think about it this way:
They’re looking for about 90 international students. They have diversity quotas to meet or else they couldn’t brag about it. So think that you’re competing mainly with those other international kids and your chances go up :-bd
If I am an international student living in the US with a visa for my entire life (18 years), I will still be compared to the applicants in the US right? That would make the most sense.
Ya why is this page so much less active than the other ones…we need to step up our game lol
Hey, guys!! I’ve been constantly reading this thread for the past few weeks and I finally decided to get an account to just share with you that you are all so fantastic! It’s a little scary to hit submit and have no idea what’s happening behind the scenes, right? But coming here and reading how kind and encouraging everyone is truly inspires me to keep a positive outlook—not just about Princeton, but about life in general. Even in the most nerve-wracking of times, there is a team when there is a will. You guys have demonstrated this will to unite and I am right here with you! I sincerely hope that each and every set of eyes scanning these pages will see magic in the coming days, weeks, months—you name it. Thank you for being AMAZINGLY AWESOME = )
Same man, its so helpful to stress with a million people rather than by yourself :))
Just a small blurb I wrote before to remind y’all:
REMEMBER!
College results are how they perceive you, not your actual self-worth. No matter what happens, have pride in what you have accomplished in the past years, and remember that college is not the end of your journey, but rather, part of your journey. College does not guarantee your success, nor your failure–you determine that.
Keep your hopes high everyone! Mine aren’t but oh well, it’s not the end of the world if I don’t get in.
Ya I totally agree…I’m usually more of a forum spectator, but seeing all of you guys going through the same thing as me…I just had to get involved!
Glad to see you guys making your presence and anxiety known. Welcome aboard the soon to be shipwrecked thread. Honestly, as stressful as this is, I’m glad that there’s so many people excited about this. And I’m so happy for people who are getting in because I know how much of a dream come true it will be
Guys now when you go to the admitted portal, it says “503 Error, Portal is inactive” instead of Forbidden
What’s the website?
https://apply.princeton.edu/portal/admitted
I wouldn’t look into the error code as any indication of admissions, though.
@csNotBS @aj2611 You get the same error code regardless of what account you’re signed into (if you are at all). Doesn’t look like we’ve found any more info that would clue in on admissions, lol.
I don’t think there’s any more clues for admissions. It comes out tomorrow, we’re all gonna be fine (hopefully)
Good luck from the Cornell thread! We had our ED decisions today
It didnt specify in the article just said international students but I’m from China
But is that the link referred to in the email that Princeton sent out? Did different applicants get emails referring them to different links?
If you are an international living in the US with a valid visa, you are part of the international pool, although your application will be read by the AO handling your HS and will be assessed accordingly.
