Princeton Waitlist Thread Class of 2019

I am going to assume that getting off the wait list is a purely demographic phenomenon at this point - just gotta wait it out if we haven’t been called yet.

@boxofdonuts Why do you assume that?

@Tigers2019 @Itazel Did you/ your daughter send in any materials to them?

I’m from Maine. I sent an email to the woman who interviewed me expressing my continued interest, my counselor wrote another school statement/update (I received some awards after applying). The statement including a rec from my headmaster and one of my favorite teachers. Nothing else was sent in. Wish you all the best of luck!!!

Congrats guys! @Tigers2019 and @Itazel were you only called or did you receive an email later?

@tiger372 Actually, my D didn’t send any updates or supplemental materials to them. She just replied to an email that was asking if she wanted to be kept on the waiting list.

@johannbach My D received only a phone call, but no confirmation email. The admission officer told her they would Fedex overnight the whole package. She has until the 28 (I believe) to reply. She’ll still be weighing the pros and cons over the week-end, but I think this call comes a little bit late as she’s already set on a university in California. This keeps me thinking that the adcom will keep calling candidates until late in June. Good luck to all of you! I hope it works out for you all. You could still receive a call even in June.

@Itazel congratz on Princeton. It must feel great knowing that your daughter was one of Princeton’s top choices  . And yes, on last year’s waitlist, a girl got a call like June 22nd and got accepted to Princeton. I heard there’s no ranking for Princeton so they go through everyone’s application whenever there is a spot so this process could take a while and definitely go into June unless they aren’t accepting too many people. Let’s hope more ppl get accepted into MIT and Stanford and withdraw from Princeton lol! Good luck everyone!

@Vin520 So does that mean Princeton kinda has ranks? I thought they just went through and found the kids that best matched the profiles of the kids who matriculated elsewhere.

@SadSquirrel23 Princeton does not rank it’s waitlist. I was saying that @Itazel’s D was among the first to be taken off the waitlist so she was one of Princeton’s top choices. Princeton goes through everyone’s application for the waitlist selects those that they think will thrive there.

Anyone else hear from princeton regarding the wait list?

Yesterday was the deadline to accept or not offers from the wait list. It was a tough decision, but D ended up rejecting their offer. I’m pretty sure you should be seeing another wave of offers pretty soon. Good luck to everyone!

Any updates?

any news?

They must be asking for transcripts

I am certain they are reviewing applications and probably will request final transcripts from college counselors. We’ll know soon.

How long does that usually take? Also, did anyone call/email them for updates? Thanks everyone for replying

I really don’t think they have been spending all this time waiting for our transcripts to decide who else to admit lol

@klp2015 I asked them if there was any realistic chance of getting off the waitlist and their answer that they gave me was very broad. They don’t know how many people they will admit yet either because people will probably still be switching schools due to summer melt so I’d expect them to start giving out calls if any late June.

And they are DEFINITELY not waiting for our transcripts…I’ve already asked my interviewer a while back about this and she told me that most of the students that apply to Princeton are well qualified so the school would expect that everyone would still keep up their grades so it’s really not that big of a deal.

If you want to see what they wrote me then here it is word for word:

"The review regarding the Waiting List and any possible developments continues this month and the Admissions Committee meets ongoing throughout June.  We do not have a numbered waitlist or use any rankings.

The Wait List process will conclude on or by June 30.   Students should feel free to share any additional school or personal updates with us in the coming weeks.

Thank you again and sending you very best wishes.

Warm regards"

Daughter just got offer of admission via phone call this morning about 10:30 central time. She has until next Thursday to decide. She is from Texas (Houston area), graduated # 5 out of 620 high school class, and has strong interest in Art History and French. Very interested in Princeton’s writing programs and senior thesis. They will send her packet via fedex, and she will accept offer. Hang in there-- probably another round or two (every Thursday?) until completed. Princeton’s admission process is very methodical and professional–they mean what they say.
