I recently got a letter from Stevens telling me I’d receive automatic scholarship consideration once I completed my application to them. “I invite you to apply to The Innovation University with priority status.” What does this mean? Is this a marketing ploy? Should I do it anyway? What criterion did I apparently meet that I was chosen for this letter?
It is a marketing ploy? Probably.
Should you do it anyway? Is it free? Then I would definitely do it. If not, I would only apply if I was going to anyway.
Not sure what criteria you met or didn’t meet. You could ask them but not sure if anyone could or would tell you.
If you are planning to apply anyway, use the password and apply through the portal as they suggest. You can curt and paste your common ap essay into the personal statement section.
Stevens and RPI seem to be reaching out to high stat students this way. A couple of years ago I thought it was a combination of legacy, RPI Medal award and increasing the percentage of females. With child number two, it is now clear that they are segregating applications based on high test scores.
How does a school know the test scores of someone who has not even applied to their university?
Some students may send their 4 free SAT scores out to colleges when they take it, but before they have submitted an application.
@ctparent2019 , schools can buy lists of kids who score above X on a given test (such as PSAT). They don’t receive your actual score but they know you crossed a certain threshold.
My son chose SIT as ED1 this year, and used this Custom Application instead of Common Application.
It is much simple with no stress!
I think if your first choice is Stevens, you should use it.
