Private Scholarships & Financial Aid

I received a big chunk of money in financial aid (including 75% Bright Future's, a loan, work study, and grants). Now, I also received two scholarships that handed a check straight to me, two that are mailed to the school after I have forwarded confirmation of enrollment, and a few that reimburse me AFTER I have paid funds and have receipts. My question is, how much of this do I have to report to the school?

You are supposed to report it all. We just updated D’s financial aid page on ISIS, and we may do it again if she gets the Byrd award. But it states very clearly that they need to be notified of all financial aid/scholarships you are receiving. In fact, they have the page sub-divided by grouping: private, federal, grant, etc.

zebes

i think what OP is getting at has to do with what needs to be reported vs what can be kept off the records in order to maintain work study/grants

I can’t answer the question but this is definitely a concern. I remember when I was receiving a scholarship directly from UF, I was told that if I had won an outside scholarship that my UF scholarship would have just been decreased by the amount of that outside scholarship.

Yeah that’s what I was getting at. I wanted to know that maybe I could use some of that to cover my EFC and such.

you could probably keep the checks you already have, but this isn’t something you want to risk getting caught doing. i’d report everything else.
