Just wondering, is there any case in which you do not have to report the scholarship to UF?

Also, when reporting your scholarship, as long as the aid that you already got +scholarship amount does not exceed your need, they wouldn't reduce any other aid, right?

I talked to the financial aid guy at Preview and he said I don’t have to report a scholarship if it is made out in my name. In other words as long as the scholarship is not directly mailed to UF, we don’t have to report it.

If the money goes to UF from your scholarship then they will deduct that scholarship money from the amount they would credit to you otherwise. I specifically asked about this when I won a scholarship outside of a scholarship UF gave me for being a NMF.

The Master- I talked to multiple people who worked in the financial aid office, and every one of them said that even if it’s made out to me, I still need to report it. Apparently, not reporting can lead to them taking away all of your aid for future years, plus paying back this year. It’s a risk that I wouldn’t want to take.

And yes, as long as your NEED isn’t overmet, they won’t reduce your aid. Although if it does become overmet, they take away things in this order (or it worked in this order in my case): Loans, Work Study, Florida Assistant Grants, Academic Competitiveness Grant. They cannot reduce your Pell Grant.

Alright so I just checked the aid reporting page and it confirms what you said. I guess the guy at preview didn’t understand my question or something. Anyway thanks for that info, can’t really go to college without any financial aid, so its not worth the risk. I just hope they take away financial aid in the order you described…

ok thanks, aforautumn, that was really helpful

I reported my scholarship on isis, and I’m going to cash the check(made out to me) later. I just want to be careful, since I’m dealing with lots of money, and I don’t want to lose it.
