As far as I know, the only time the earlier applicants are at an advantage is with colleges that have rolling admission.

No salamisalem, that’s not true at all. Columbia, Rice, Cornell and similar schools will give your application their full attention as long as you submitted it on time. If you miss the deadline by a little bit, but Common App still accepted your application and supplements, you should be fine. Relax and don’t worry. It’s out of our hands now.

TAHUNGANH, when the forms are downloaded is just when the admissions office access your application. Some seem to have bots do it, while at other schools humans do this job–thus the different statuses at different schools. But it doesn’t matter at all and has no bearing on your decision when your app is downloaded. As long as it has been submitted and you see all those nice green triangles, you’ve got nothing to worry about.

Pheeww so much work so little time. Now left with the 15 deadline and the feb dealine. I will just do them all this week so I can relax! Still have FA to do as well. Good Luck everyone

I had six supplements due Saturday and I whipped through them… have only one due today and I’m still not finished. Why can I only work under immense pressure? :(

^Story of my life.

Haha tell me about it. I did Northwestern, UVA, and Princeton all in one day without much trouble, and the next day I couldn’t even finish Rice on its own in time. I was only a couple seconds “late,” but the essay was actually somewhat rushed. lol

Lol. Done. With five minutes to spare. :D

Almost done. phew

I didn’t sleep for 2 days to rush my supplements. But then i fell asleep during my submission and i end up submitting my application 10 mins past the deadline. ■■■ :(

Does the time zone where you live matter in determining this time?

I noticed that an app submitted at 11:10 pm, 1/3 (CST) was reported as being submitted on 1/4. Obviously the common app time is EST. Are the rules detailing the exact date and time for the deadline ever enumerated anywhere? Please cite where. thanks.

Guys, as long as you were allowed to submit, you’re fine. :]

ok. that’s a relief. In case there is a problem with admissions, I’ll say that **girlcandisco **from collegeconfidential said it is ok. :)

While I have quite an amazing rapport with admissions officers, here’s additional reassurance: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/common-application/628910-urgent-common-app-problem-check-here-first.html ;)

thanks, disco, for the link. I do feel reassured that it took, especially if geek_mom sez so…

I assume geek-mom is speaking from her experience. But what is troubling about what she says is that each college has its own grace period, which is not posted anywhere. Obviously one should not even get into a grace period, but that is why this post is in this thread (procrastinator unite). It would help to know the true deadline. Common App should really put geek mom’s nmbr 3 blurb on it’s SUBMIT page.
