I'll be a senior in september, and I was offered to be a treasurer on the Prom Commitee by the president. I'm just wondering if this is worth my time. There would be some commitment with the meetings and checking out banquet halls and such with the other members, and I also have other ECs, volunteering going on.

I'll be applying to hotel school ED.
Does anyone think I should take this offer (will it improve my chances)? Or is it not worth it?
Thankss

You don't do everything just for college admission. You do it for your enjoyment. If you enjoy it, then take the offer.

as a hotel student i'd imagine you'd be psyched about your high school prom :P

I am no expert but I think it would be worth it. It shows planning/hospitality skills, no? Plus, as extracurricular activities go, I think it would be fun. You could go to prom and feel pride in having significantly contributed to the festivities!

Well, do you want to do it, for starters?

Nothing I did in high school was to better my college application. I did everything out of interest and enjoyment.

well of course i want to do it becuase it will be my prom (finally!), and of course i want to be a part of the planning process. but right now, it feels like if i join the commitee, i might end up neglecting other ecs i'm currently involved in, just because of the lack of time. and I like being active on councils instead of just sitting there at the meetings, because then i feel useless. So i guess it comes down to the fact that joining prom takes up some of my time, less time and mental energy for school work and other activities i have. And i hear senior grades are still important, especially the first semester grades. so i'm in a dilemma, becuase all of these are equally important to me.

or i might be taking this too seriously haha
