Basically, there's this girl who I've known for several years that I kinda like. She moved from my town freshman year, but we still talk/text a lot. She was thinking about coming back for prom and asked me whether or not I'd like to go with her. Of course I said yes - but her only condition was that she still wanted a legit prom proposal.

Since she lives far away, the plan was that during notes in one of her classes, there would be a powerpoint slide asking her. Thing is, that day was supposed to be today and she skipped school to do work instead. Frustrated, I mentioned that she missed out on her prom proposal today (I didn't tell her what I was doing), which means she expects it next week when she goes to school.

She would've been caught off guard with the powerpoint slide. I mean, she still will be surprised, but I feel as if the same effect of surprise won't be present - is there any way to correct this? I was thinking maybe Sunday I could tell her that I might not be able to go so that she will be genuinely surprised when she sees the slide.
