A friend of mine got an email from UCSC requesting proof of draft registration before they can award financial aid. Problem is, she's a girl and therefore hasn't registered with the Selective Service. Any ideas on what she should do about this?

Uh... since the selective service thing is only required for males... that shouldn't have happened. She should call the UCSC Financial Aid department right away. That's really odd!!

What he said. Selective Service registration is required of males who turn 18, and if they don't, they can't get financial aid. But female students are exempt. Somewhere in some computer, she's pegged as male! Call or write the office that asked for verification and tell them to correct the records.
