Prospective University of Washington, Winter 2016 transfers?

Nope it’s not I’m doing the same thing! They’ve been loading at different times for everyone today so hopefully others will load soon as well! @qwertyytrewq2

oh my @kedillor that great!
I think I make a bad candidate i have over 90 units completed -_- (changed majors too many times) and my gpa isa 3.5 :frowning:
Congrats though

@JP1993 Thanks

Don’t worry If it makes you feel more positive, I called the admissions office and they said that they just started reviewing the bulk of OOS students yesterday and will go through the end of November. (I guess cause were last for priority)

Thanks @kedillor hopefully im accepted I didn’t apply to a competitive major

Just curious if any four year university student transfers who are in-state still waiting?

@Akeating Nope! Still says thank you. My transcript loads and my major pops up in Registration (it didn’t before).

Tbh I’m still not really sure why I found out so late. Perhaps because I sent in my FAFSA really late (last month lol)? Or because I had a bad HS GPA? I also had a classic “upward trend” transcript, my last 60 credits pretty much all my grades were 4.0’s but I had a C, D and a W my first quarter.

My best guess, though, is that the order in which people hear back is random… I recall in previous years some of the first people who heard back had low GPAs, low credits, and weren’t “ideal” transfers. I think it may be true that OOS folks hear back later, or at least that’s what an admissions counselor said according to @kedillor! But when I talked to admissions people… at first they said it was “by major” - that open majors hear back first, which clearly isn’t true - and then another person told me it was random.

I don’t care too much though because I’m in! I have the opportunity to study math at UW and that’s all I can really ask for!

@jp1993 I had those exact same stats. Don’t worry!

@snailshellz Hmmm thats odd for me then! You’re right! WOOOHOOOOOO We made it  Nothing to worry about anymore!

@Akeating does your major come up in the Registration tab? (intended major)

Dear future Huskies who may read this thread looking for information on when they might hear back from UW: Don’t stress about figuring out the order in which people hear back. I’ve tried for 2 months now and never came to a conclusive answer. Hahaha

Only thing that seems relatively sure is that Foster applicants hear back early and OOS applicants tend to hear back later.

I wonder if this is the same for everyone else. When I click registration it states that I’m not eligible for registration. And when I click intended major it states this:

The Intended Major service is intended for current University of Washington students. According to our records, you are not a UW student. (There is no Student Number associated with your UW NetID.)

It’s because we haven’t enrolled yet @BluMickey. But we are admitted!

Did anyone receive an email about housing? My transcript did not load yet (I’ve been checking it hourly). I haven’t gotten any indication of admissions offer, so I’m confused as to why I’ve gotten a message about housing when I haven’t received any mail or had any of the tricks work?

I’ll stop stalking this thread now haha. But I’m really thankful for all of you guys on here! This place was the best for venting about my feelings and just sharing our excitement about UW. I feel like I went a little crazy at times. It was a huge deal for me to apply to UW since it was a goal of mine ever since I started performing well at CC. I’m so glad to finally be able to attend UW!! It was suuuuch a relief when I saw my transcript load…

Western and WSU are cool too, and I wouldn’t have minded going to either of those if it came to that! I hope everyone on here who hasn’t heard yet receives good news or ends up at another school they are pleased with. Hope to meet some of you at orientation!

Hey everyone,

Just reporting in- my transcript loaded as well, at 4:39 pst this afternoon. My intended major is EE, but they do not accept applicants until spring quarter, so for now my unofficial transcript major is listed as “pre-engineering”. I applied for general admission.

I’m a slightly older applicant- 29 this year. I have roughly 90 CC credits with a 3.97 gpa. Previously, when i was younger, I was a student at WSU and did very poorly, averaging a 2.5 gpa over 100 (semester) credits. With this in mind, my overall cumulative gpa is probably around a 2.9. However, UW probably considered my recent credits more heavily while making an admission decision.

In any case, wanted to fill you guys in in case anyone is in a similar situation as me.

Good Luck!

@sonicnation95 I got that email at 4:19 today and I have been accepted! Not sure if it has anything to do with being accepted or not but it does seem like a good sign

@Snailshellz not sure if Im looking in the right place so i’m just going to say no… haha. I don’t want to click on anything that’ll make me not allowed to withdraw from Bothell even though that’s probably not a thing. :stuck_out_tongue:
To be honest I keep looking at it every other hour to make sure it’s still there and that it’s real :((

Best of luck to everyone else! Thanks for all the support and hope you all find success wherever UW’s decision takes you

Does Anyone know how to withdraw from a school after you paid the confirmation fee by any chance? I cannot find any detail/instructions about it on their site and can’t call admissions office until Monday

@Akeating that does seem like a good sign! Congratulations on the acceptance by the way! I guess the question is, did anyone else who hasn’t been “accepted” gotten that email as well?

I don’t think you have to be accepted into your major in order to be accepted into UW. From what I was told you could be denied from your major but still get into UW. Is this correct?

@liment

I was denied general admission at UW this past fall after being denied to the EE department because of a missing pre-requisite. I was accepted this quarter after applying as General admission only.
so, in my experience, if you implied on the school application that you planned to apply for your Major and the Uni at the same time, then both your school acceptance and major acceptance are decided by the major program

Congrats to everyone!

@liment so does that mean you have a better chance of getting in if you apply for General admission? … :frowning: I forgot what I applied for but I’m pretty sure it was Business management or Economics (my current major)… Or is that general admission also?
