Has anyone heard from University of Washington in Seattle for Winter Quarter 2017?
I applied as a transfer student (more than 40 credits) and above a 3.0 GPA.
Haven’t heard from them yet, it makes me pretty nervous.
You can refer to the main UW Winter 2017 transfer thread that has 200 replies, but no one has heard back yet unfortunately
The average GPA for an admitted transfer is 3.4. Of course, there are those with 4.0 GPA and those with the low 3.X GPA transferring in. If you’re applying to a competitive major, you’re unfortunately probably not in great luck.
Wish you well though
I said that I have above a 3.0 GPA and my GPA is a 3.55, applying as a pre-major not directly to the major yet. Thanks for the heads up though.
@Girlygirl256 that is a very strong GPA, however the admissions process also looks at how many credits you have and if you have done your prereqs for your major. There are a lot of factors that go into the process so just by looking at your GPA we can’t give you a strong idea of your chances.
Thanks, I think it’s pretty decent since I’m trying to major in Pre-Engineering and work my way through Civil. (since I still have some pre-req to complete before applying directly to the major). However, I think my GPA would have been a lot higher if my classes weren’t challenging.
I agree, there are other factors but I actually started this thread wondering if anyone has recieved an acceptance or rejection letter. Unfortunatley, it seems like no has recieved anything yet.
@Girlygirl256 If you want to know if anyone has received an acceptance or rejection letter the winter transfer 2017 thread will be the one to watch for updates or anything related to winter 2017 at the UW.
I called UW admissions and they said that they could potentially send them out as late as Christmas. It is so frustrating that I may have to make a move to a different state in 3 days if I don’t get into UW
