What scores do you need to be provisionally accepted to Clemson university?

I think its like 1800 or 28/29

Ask admissions: 864-656-3311

Or even better might be undergraduate recruitment, I believe they’re in charge of that.

FWIW, my in-state Junior son received a provisional acceptance letter a couple of weeks ago. He is top 7% of his class with a 1280 SAT and a 4.68 GPA. His older brother just completed his freshman year at Clemson and he was top 11%, 1220 SAT with a 4.5 and did NOT receive one.

I received provisional acceptance for the fall of 2014 with a 30 on my ACT and a 3.73 (unweighted) GPA. I’m in 6 AP classes and I am from out of state (Michigan).

You do have to be top 10%.

Congrats to those receiving them!

How does a student go about being considered for a provisional acceptance? I have heard a little about this but I am confused. I thought it was only based upon SAT or ACT scores if you had the scores sent to Clenson. How does Clemson have information about grades/class rank, etc.? Is there an actual application for provisional acceptance?

I am not actually sure. Clemson doesn’t officially list how you can get provisional acceptance. Anyone have any info about this?

Is there an office of academic recruiting? If so, a call to them may help?

I know I had sent them my ACT / SAT scores, but I doubt I would have sent them a transcript by the time I received mine. Perhaps they find those who were interested enough to send scores to them and then inquire at the school? I really don’t know, that’s a good question!

Not positive, but I think it has to do with the additional information you provide to the College Board about your grades, classes, etc. So Clemson offers to students who make high enough SAT/AP scores, and the additional info comes from what you put down when you register for the test.

You need to talk to admissions. Their # is 864-656-3311

That could be about what else you give when registering for the test, but I do remember one of my tests for some reason had me listed as top 25% not top 10% when I definitely was.

However the other test did have me in top 10% so perhaps that’s what they went by?

I sent my May 4th SAT scores to them and I’m fairly sure I will likely get a provisional acceptance letter. (1370, top 3%, instate).

My question was, how long does it generally take for them to send those provisional notifications?

I got mine in February. And March. And April.

Overall I got about 7 from them lol. I would say spring of your Junior year is when most people get them.

Received my provisional acceptance today after sending in my scores from two months ago!

Per the application web site: https://www.applyweb.com/apply/clemson/info_fresh.html

Each year, Clemson receives more admission applications than there are classroom spaces available; therefore, the qualifications of students admitted in any given year are related to the number of applications received. There is no set cutoff point for grades, class standing or SAT/ACT scores, but the high school academic record is more important than test scores.

Besides SAT/ACT scores and class standing, other factors such as high school curriculum, grades, choice of major and S.C. residency are also considered. In evaluating these factors, we will make one of the three following decisions when we review your application:

Yes. You have been provisionally accepted. You will have a specified time in which to submit your admission deposit, and your provisional acceptance will be confirmed when you graduate unless your senior grades drop markedly.

No. Unfortunately, your credentials are not as strong as those of the candidates we are accepting this year, and we cannot accept you. However, we want to work with you on a program that will enable you to transfer to Clemson in a year.

Wait list. We will hold your application and make a final decision in mid-May. You will be asked to notify the Office of Admissions if you desire a space on the wait list.

that’s talking about regular admissions decisions, not about the so-called “provisional acceptance” people get months ahead of time
