PSAT 2010 Wednesday General Discussion

i can’t decide if i think i did well or not. overall though,
CR-pretty bad
Math- 1st part OK, second part easy
Writing- Fairly easy
i put 50 for the one about circles, 41 for the vennd diagram, and “minimize” for the one about hypertension.

I hated the writing section. Is it just like the SAT?

In the passage, the author’s wit was compared to chopping wood in the backwoods of Carolina. It asked something like “what does the inclusion of Carolina in the passage say about the author/writings”

It said “best known”. It should’ve been “better known”

Penetrating insights

I got 41 also and the circle one was 50 as well. I am not sure about the curve.

I missed the Japanese lady one D: I did think about “better known” but I still chose no error.

Oh well, at least this is the PSAT :p

That dosen’t make any sense Funstuff. You wouldn’t place better known because that’s what everyone thought of her.

I put increase/diminish for the blood one. CR and Math were all good for me, but the identifying sentence error section of Writing killed me… I put “has reported” for the egypt archeologist one because I thought it sounded weird but I had no idea…For the tennis one I picked “oblivious from” and for the first one I picked “ability to engage” because I thought it should be “ability of engaging” . If anything brought me down… it was grammar -_-

I picked “oblivious from” for that one as well.

For north/south Carolina I said sentimental because I don’t think the ax cutting tree literally meant penetrating or anything, and it said Carolina was his home and etc

i’m pretty sure that one was A. the sentence was something like
“Although best known for her work in voice-over cartoons, Kyoto also starred in a movie in the 1940’s.”

i was debating on this one, but i think “best” was supposed to be changed to “better”

Form W. And it’s better because it was only comparing those two jobs. She was better known for that than the other job.

omg, please tell me you are correct D:

^oh okay. Whatever. It’s not like my score counts for the scholarship.

I kinda just want to curl up in a ball and whine. Based on the harsh curves and what I seem to have gotten wrong already, I’m pretty much not getting SF. NJ is too much ;_;

I don’t think I’m correct Krazy; how many points are we deducted for a wrong answer?

littlepenguin, I feel the same  Except my states cutoff is 217 and I feel like the curve killed me

^yah, I got it now. Thanks FunStuff for clearing it up though!

For the best/better known question, I thought it was saying she starred in this movie, but she was better known for her cartoon roles. aaaaaa

I just need better than whatever the Hispanic Recognition Program cutoff is for Texas so I can get half tuition off from BU :x
