PSAT 2012 test scores received

My son got a 220 in CA. It’s going to be a long 9 months waiting to find out the new cutoff.

2012: 220
2011: 221
2010: 218

I got a 180 as a freshman. Honestly, NYC making freshman take it is so pointless but w/e.

I’m getting the results tomorrow… I think I’ll be forced to stay up all night anticipating this. Does anyone know what the cutoff is for California?

Also, I must add I’m extremely peeved because the counselors had the scores today, passed out a few, and then closed the door to other students >:( any ideas why counselors may do that?

getting them tomm… nervous after seeing the terrific scores on here=(, I got a 170 sophomore year, want to break at least 200

I got a 220 in Cal. Hoping against hope that there isnt a point increase =/.

FINALLY got scores at our hs in OH. My son pulled a 216, so 9 points better than last year, although he somehow dropped 6 points in CR? I know historically OH has never had higher than a 214 cutoff, so should he feel safe or should we be sweating it out until cutoffs are announced next fall??

FL public school,
2012:225
2011:208

Checked with DD’s GC yesterday and heard that they received the boxes of score reports and booklets last Friday. Unfortunately, they have to be matched and alphabetized first, and yet still plan to wait until mid-January to hand them out – no talking around them…

Typically only Soph and Jrs take the PSAT. We got special permission from a private school in the area to take it when she was a Freshman. She was the only Freshman that year.

We thought it would be good practice and because she had already been identified in the top % of her class from the DUKE TIP program for high scoring standardized test takers in 6th/7th grade. (Her ACT score was a 25 in 7th grade, so we’ve been tracking her pretty closely since then.)

Arrived in California . . . finally!

Arizona DVHS Handed out Tuesday, my son scored a 209 not bad.!

I got a 221. I heard that the curves are similar to last years so I’m predicting a 220 cutoff with + or - 1 range. Cool beans.

240!!! So excited!!! Here’s to hoping this translates to the SAT!

Sophomore year: 183

I didn’t study at all, hadn’t taken math or English in nearly a year (block scheduling… So my last math class ended Febuary 2012)… Should I be worried? Math I did very well, ok in writing, and Blahhh in critical reading.

Got an email from Collegeboard saying scores were available. so emailed the guidance counselor. They did have them and called and gave me his code and scores so I didn’t have to wait. Our counselors are completely swamped. It is a big school and only a few counselors and so I completely understand. Was glad to get the scores before everyone else.

Was hoping for my son to break 200 but still optimistic for junior year.

Older son scored 218 sophomore year and 228 junior year with no work and my younger son is willing to put in some work.

I think the counselors are planning to hand out and go over score reports with the kids this week.

208 in CA, does this even qualify for commended?

Yes, the required nation wide score is 202. Congratulaitons.

I just got my score today, a 221 in massachusetts. Will this qualify for semi-finalist? Didn’t know that missing one math, and one writing could bring your score down so much. :P

@mattso88 How do you know the qualifying score for commended status? Is it just based off of what the past few years’ scores have been? Just curious, because I hear people also throwing around a semifinalist qualifying score, but I thought that those aren’t released until next fall. I’m confused…
