224 in NH
CR 80
M 76 (-1)
W 68 (-3)

I’m still waiting for my school to get the results. All my friends from my old school got them today and I am still waiting here anxiously. At first I was feeling good about my score (thought I got higher than 220) but after hearing that missing 2 in writing brings you down to a 72, I’m not so confident anymore.

Normally I can get 80 in math but my vocab is just awful and I get like 60-65 in reading. So I was counting on getting an 80 or at least close like 78 on the writing (which I thought was easier than normal on test day) so I could still get a really good overall score. But whenever I did practice tests on my own I missed one or two writing because of stupid mistakes so now I’m really worried than I didn’t break 220. I feel like the writing might screw me up if I missed some and even the curve on math is pretty harsh. Missing just 1 is a 76 and I sometimes I miss 1 because of a careless mistake.

I live in PA, but go to school in NJ, which has a notoriously high cutoff. Since I’m a sophomore, it doesn’t even count, but for anyone who cares:
Total: 221
Math: 64 (I’m so upset about this one; I hate math), -6 (including one grid-in)
CR: 77, -2
Writing: 80
Just wondering, do people often go down from their sophomore scores when they take the PSAT junior year? I wanted to go up 9 points to a 230 at least next year. Right now, I’m actually really concerned about my score dropping.
If it makes a difference, I took the Wed test.

nothing yet, and I live in Texas(fort worth)

A commended scholar is a nice line for your resume, activities profile or honor. About it.

Cr: 78(-3)
Math: 67(-5)
Writing: 70(-2)

Writing curve was so harsh! So that’s a 215 in tx. Any guesses as to if that’s good enough?! The sheet says 99 percentile…

So wait was the -2 in writing equaling a 700 on the Wednesday test or the Saturday test?

I took Saturday.

In KS–got a message from counselor that scores had been received and will be given out
tomorrow, 12/7

Sophomore in VA with no prep (my sister got a 168 on her PSAT and ended up with a 2390 on the SAT haha):

CR - 55 85% for sophomores
M - 59 90% for sophomores
W - 59 95% for sophomores
Composite: 173 84% for college-bound juniors

That score is God-awful…especially seeing that I scored a 200 on the practice test. Next year I’ll go for commended.

Still no scores in Texas (San Antonio)…

Scores are available; however, counselors or advisors want to break down the results and present them so they don’t leave out some vital information and don’t have to keep repeating themselves for their own sanity. You should be able to go and ask them if they can give you a brief blurp of your score and set up a time when they can meet with you or ask when they plan to go over the scores with your class. We’re in Texas and my daughter got a brief blurp of her scores from her counselor yesterday.

@TexasatHome- yup in SA too- I think YouDon’tSay- said it best- it’s a struggle with Admin- But they do have the scores now- Good Luck:)

Anyone know why the PSAT results come out in this way? It’s very annoying and seems less efficient than the SAT method where everyone can access them at once.

@raejcs- Hi, thanks for the reply.

We homeschool. So they mail directly to us. Usually we get them at the same time. Hopefully, today.

I haven’t followed this whole thread, but counselors and schools are so concerned about finishing up senior college apps that that has to take precedent, as it should (and you’ll be glad of that next year). But if you can get someone to give you the score, don’t harangue them with lots of questions. Come on here, and we can tell you what you need to know. Look up last year’s cutoffs and see where you fall. Good luck, everyone!

lab, my son inproved the equivalent of 250 points from October PSAT to January SAT.

DelBoy, in years past that was high enough for Natl Achievement. Lots of colleges give special scholareships for NA, akin to what they give for NMSF.

still no scores in chicago… anyone got scores in illinois?

Frankly, the delay in distributing PSAT scores is ridiculous. This is a nationally administered test – potentially for a “National” merit award – why wouldn’t there be nationwide uniformity in the distribution of scores? The scores are not complicated to understand. Yes, there are annual differences in cutoff scores, etc., but the score itself is what it is. College Board should just make scores available online for everyone at the same time, as it does with SATs. This should not fall onto guidance counselors (especially, as Youdon’tsay mentioned, during the busy college app season). And, while we’re talking about this supposedly being a “national” test, I’ve still never seen a decent explanation for why commended status cutoffs are uniform across the country, yet semifinalist/finalist ones vary from state to state. Oh well, we will continue to wait in DC…

We’re in Oklahoma and homeschool. Still no results as of today. Maybe tomorrow?
