Well, we got the scores today in rural Georgia. We homeschool, so the scores come directly to our home.

Neither of my daughters scored high enough to be a finalist, so I don’t have to track the cut-offs, but probably one is a “Commended” student :).

Side note for those who wonder about improving scores:
DS went up 8 points from a sophmore score of 198 to junior score of 206 with no extra prep - just another schoolyear under his belt.

DD #1’s scores stayed the same overall (175 both years) from sophmore to junior year, with very little extra prep. She struggles mightily with math & is not a contender for “Commended” student.

DD #2’s scores improved by 16 points - from a sophmore score of 186 to junior score of 202 with some test prep added to her schoolday. Her weak area - math - went from a 51 to a 59 - that is where we spent the most time trying to shore up.

229! I’m so happy that I managed to do well on math (up 15 point from 61 last year to a 76 this year)!!! Now I just have to do it on the SAT when it really counts…

This is a pleasant surprise since his last two scores were:
Soph: 196
Freshman: 204 - yes, his score went down in10th grade!
He finally realized that he needed to study for the test this year and his score jumped up.

I got mine today - 12/7/12 - and I’m homeschooled. My score is 216, and I live in OH. Last year’s cutoff was 212, I think, and the highest was 214, so I think I made it. I got a 2110 on the SAT - is this high enough to back up my PSAT score?

There’s no uniformity in how and when schools distribute the scores. And, yes, NJ has a high cutoff, but the inane cutoff rule in DC is that they simply match it to whatever the highest cutoff is of states around the country! Has nothing to do with how students in DC actually perform. Some lazy person came up with that policy.

@Youdon’tsay
Thank you for the information. Hopefully I’ve got some award to look forward to!
Does anyone know if the top 4 percentiles (96 and up) are NMS commended?

I got mine this afternoon.
CR: 73 (-3)
M: 76 (-1)
W: 70 (-2)
Overall: 219
Cutoff last year was 212 so I’m pretty sure I’m safe and got NMSF. I’m kind of disappointed with my scores because I prepared using SAT tests and scored 2250+ on them a month before PSATs. BTW I’m in Arizona for people tracking the progress (even though there isn’t a direct relationship between proximity to NE and when scores are distributed).

Virginia scores are here! Unfortunately our guidance counselors are holding them hostage until we schedule a whole conference with them in the next couple weeks because they assume that we won’t know what the numbers mean. I felt good about the math but the writing section was killer. We’ll see! Good job everyone else.

Got our scores back today, and although they aren’t anything close to the level being posted here, I’m pretty happy with my 18 point jump from 175 to 193.

Now I’ll just hope for another 18 point jump on the SAT. A 2100/2150 would be nice.
