With respect to the “harsh curves,” the PSAT doesn’t have as many questions as the SAT, so getting one wrong will naturally take a bigger toll on your score.

Micawber is correct that the class of 2012 (kids who graduated in 5/2012) had an unusually high cutoff, at least in many states. The class of 2013 (kids who graduate in 2013) had a lower cutoff, perhaps suggesting that their PSAT (taken in fall of 2011) was more difficult.

I’m confused about how people are getting 70s in writing because I got a 72 with two wrong.

In math i got a 73 with two wrong and in reading i got a 71 with 4 wrong.

Did you take the PSAT on Wed or Sat?

predict -4 for writing? not my score, hopefully i got higher. whats -11 for CR? not my score, hopefully i got higher… thanks

NJ here. Disappointed, only got a 200. I thought I did far better than that. Is 200 high enough to qualify for the National Achievement Scholarship Program? Do colleges really care at all for recognition by that award?

Got an e-mail from school saying DS 2 scores would be handed out in 6th period today. Teacher was too busy, but we will get scores tomorrow in Maryland. Almost 2 wks earlier then last year.

73 cr
71 math
…
58 writing

God i feel so dumb… Cutoff last year for my state was 209 so i guess no merit for me

224 in MI (68 R, 76 M, 80 W)

Was it moist or consumed for Critical Reading?

231 in WI! Guidance counselor received on Tuesday…

My D in Oklahoma took Wednesday test. -2 CR = 77, -9 Math = 61, -2 W = 72

What percentile is 200?

200 on the dot in Texas, Wednesday session. This was the cutoff for commended last year. Do you expect it will change this year? I would be pretty upset if I missed it by 1 point.

63 reading
67 math
70 writing. ****ed off because reading is my best subject (constant 70’s) and writing was what I expected.

Arrived in Texas (Austin area). Definitely not as good as she (daughter) wanted…Just under commended, I’m sure. But her SAT on October 6th was fantastic, so it will have to do. It makes me wonder how the two tests are even related. The results were 230 points apart (on a converted to SAT scale). Anyone else see that much of a difference? (And no, her essay was only an 8!)

What’s the percentile for a 200 on the PSAT?

it says on the sheet you get

@FireLion
96 percentile :(

wait do the top 4% get commended scholar? (96% +)

Forgive me if this is too dumb a question, what benefits come with being commended?
