PSAT 2012 test scores received

@Justong, That is really good! My D. is a sophomore too. She’s anxiously waiting for her school to release their PSAT scores.

Thank you!

Ask to her counselor, she has scores.

still waiting in WA

I got 216 as a sophomore on the Wednesday test which gets me to semifinalist in MI. Hopefully I can maintain that score next year.

I got a 211, which is way better than a 198 last year but makes me want to die after reading everybody else’s scores. 63 M, 80 R, 68 CR <-lower than last year, maybe the test was harder?

Still waiting in Florida… nearby schools have received them, but for some reason our counselor said she hasn’t received them…

Sophomore in NY got my score back today - 197. Should I be happy or concerned?

andrewmamo5, depends on your goals. Are you shooting for commended? semi-finalist?

My DD’s school just announced the PSAT scores to be distributed on 12/14. We have to wait a few more days.

ScarletSeer, I think I’m shooting semi-finalist or I guess the higher the better but honestly I don’t know.

Don’t let the other scores get to you. Unless you’re in the 99th percentile, it really doesn’t mean all that much. Even the highly selective schools are so used to seeing “commended” students apply it really has no value left. If you did the best you could, be satisfied with that. Then go study for the SAT. :)

Ok that makes sense. Thank you! I’ll go study.

got mine in GA-
71 CR, 76 MA, & 72 WR for a total of 219!!!
In contrast with my 191 sophomore PSAT, I just wanted to make the point that 1. Practice really does help, and 2. The margin for error on the PSAT is so very slim, especially when compared to the number of total questions on the real SAT I – I missed a total of 7 questions on the PSAT, compared with 19 on my October SAT (score of 2060).
Also, we are all getting so nervous about making the cutoffs but let’s be honest: it will be wonderful if we make it, but if we don’t, what have we lost? Absolutely nothing! That said, I am still dearly hoping that I make the cutoff for Georgia, but it won’t be the end of the world if I don’t  we still have months before we even hear anything about qualifying, and I’d say we should focus on making it past dec. 21st before we worry about qualifying for a scholarship ;)

Got mine in MA, 212 which is way up from my 179 sophomore year so I’m pretty happy. Do I have a shot at commended?

What’s usually the cutoff for commended?

I think it is 202

When will Mississippi get it’s scores

TX Home school daughter received her score on Saturday.

Jr: 231 (CR-71, M-80, W-80)
Soph: 210
Fresh: 187

We are very proud of her and she is extremely excited. That’s a big jump both years so I want to encourage y’all to keep studying and work hard. You can do it too.

Congrats STroxel!
She will pretty much get NMF!!!

what is “commanded”? (forgive my ignorance…)

Fantastic scores being reported – congratulations, all. And I think anything in the 190s as a sophomore is terrific, especially if you are dedicated enough to be studying for next year already.

Quick question: how do 9th graders and younger get to take the PSAT? Isn’t is just given to 10th and 11th? Is there a way to sign up on your own, or do you have to go through your school, or be home schooled?
