My son got a 206 last year and did not receive an invitation.
@pillowspillows
The reason that Telluride would have used 2014 sophomore scores is that TASP 2016 applications are due in late January but the release of the 2015 PSAT scores to students has been delayed from mid-December to January 7.
Sending out invitations after January 7 would not have allowed enough time to complete the lengthy TASP applications.
Both Telluride Association and College Board have claimed that College Board has not released the 2015 PSAT scores to Telluride.
Some people find this claim questionable because:
(1) There does not seem to be the kind of correlation one would expect between some students’ 2014 sophomore PSAT scores and their receiving/not receiving TASP invitations:
(2) Some people used different email addresses in 2014 and 2015, but received the TASP email to the 2015 email address;
(3) College Board said that it had calculated the 2015 PSAT scores back in mid-December. Since it makes more sense
for Telluride to invite people based on their junior scores, it might also make more sense for CB to pass along the scores to TA in a timely fashion.
Everyone, to end the speculation about TASP, I emailed them and they replied back saying, “The 2016 TASP invites for juniors are based on 2014 sophomore PSAT/NMSQT scores.”
Also, College mailings have absolutely 0 meaning for acceptance but does the type of mail you get indicate a good psat score, such as getting financial aid info from Vanderbilt?
205 sophomore year and no TASP invitation…are you supposed to apply to get it or is it supposed to be an unsolicited invitation?
@JuicyMango Unsolicited email/mail to apply to the program, you can still apply without one.
@nillupa if that’s the case then why did people like dazedaura and me with scores below 200 get invitations while people like Studious99 and JuicyMango didn’t?
re-dons tinfoil hat
@loquatical Aww that’s kind of a bummer :(. Maybe its just coming a bit late this time?
I got a 179 last year and didn’t get any email from Telluride or Stanford. Anyways @Plotinus Did you ask about the Stanford email too or did you only ask about the TASP email?
@loquatical Tasp sends it based on top percentage from your area. So the other two people probably live in a different state where the top 1% is lower.
As far as the TASP maybe it is based on state just like NMF is? If that’s the case someone could get a letter with a 189 while others with scores over 200 wouldn’t.
Received e-mail invites to both; 230 on the PSAT as a sophomore last year.
So incredibly nervous for these scores on Thursday:/ I feel like I am one of the only people on the Internet who thought it didn’t go incredibly great. I just want to take the New SAT already and get it over with-- there aren’t that many chances left for the class of 17.
I’ve received many college emails (Stanford, Brown, etc.) that were mentioned, but no TASP. I guess this could mean that I didn’t do as well, although I was pretty confident, but what I’m more confused about is that I haven’t received an email of the “PSAT Scores are coming soon” that mentions anything about my access code. Will I still be able to access my scores on Thursday?
@ayraify I’m in the EXACT same boat as you.
Wait what is this TASP thing? I’m not worried or anything that I didn’t get it, but I think I should have since I got a 230 on the PSAT as a sophomore.
On a different note, I can’t wait for this year’s PSAT results to come out!
Is anyone else going to ask their counselor for their score on Wednesday besides me?
@nillupa
“Tasp sends it based on top percentage from your area. So the other two people probably live in a different state where the top 1% is lower.”
Here are some of the lower 2014 sophomore PSAT scores of people reporting TASP invitations
bamadude 160’s
carmelot39 170
classof2017 173
fisisk 181
packalum 185
bsdsj22 186
Here are some of the higher 2014 sophomore PSAT scores of people reporting no TASP invitation:
KrazyKing5461 230
tryingforharvard: 99th percentile
maryt2017 214
jmann12349854 209
Studious99 206
delilahxc 206
JuicyMango 205
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think a top 1% score for a sophomore is approximately 70 per section, or around cumulative 205. There could be some variations from one state to another, but I don’t think you would find any state in which 160, 170, 180 or even 185 could be in the top 1% for sophomores.
@garyasho2 I’m planning on doing that, but 90% sure she won’t give me the access code
@glassflowers Just keep on nagging her, she’ll have to give in eventually haha. But I heard that the counselors just get the score. So maybe on Wednesday you can just get the score directly.
@zaaarp I also took the PSAT for the first time this year and have gotten emails from Stanford and Harvard, but nothing from TASP.
