**PSAT Discussion Thread 2015**

Well someone said that they got a 1440/1520. If that’s not the same as everyone, then I don’t think it’s a glitch. But who knows?

Patience is a virtue…
You only have about 15-16 hours to wait, depending on if your counselor is generous enough to provide an access code. And the PSAT doesn’t determine your life fate. Chill out ppl ._.

Lol I’m scared like mess. As for those who got their scores, can you predict my scores if I got the following:
-8 - 10 on Math
-15 on Reading
-5 on Writing
Ugh I came too late to see because I just returned from school

@YoohooAddict Ouch…

Sorry, but those scores won’t get you on NM, although you might still be in the 85th to 90th percentile…

Do any of you who saw scores mind sharing percentiles and index scores?

Of course today is the day that I have 5000 ECs and I miss my score…

@pillowspillows 760 on Reading + Writing (-1): 99th percentile
720 on Math (-7 lol): 99th percentile
1480 (total): 99th percentile

National Merit Selection Index: 224 out of 228, so I’m pretty confident about NM

@foliontai Congrats to you

@foliontai what does it mean when the nm selection index is 224 out of 228? The psat is out of 1520 right?

Interesting that the above commenter got 7 wrong on math and still got 99th percentile. Are scores just going to be worse than the old test in that regard or is everyone thinking it was a glitch?

@foliontai Congratulations!
@nillupa NM selection index is different from PSAT score.

@payn4ward so what does 224 out of 228 mean?

@tigerrocks13 SAT math tests are known to be tricky

@nillupa The selection index is calculated differently and is a different range. The NM corporation uses their number to decide if people are semi-finalists or commended, not the number out of 1520.

This is a direct quote from my score report (and is also on the sample score report on CB’s website):

NMSC uses a Selection Index based on PSAT/NMSQT scores as an initial screen of students who enter its scholarship programs. To calculate your Selection Index, double the sum of of your Reading, Writing and Language, and Math Test scores.

@nillpa A very good score! :slight_smile:

@nillupa 36(M)+38(Wr)+38(Cr)=112*2=224…its just used for selection in the NM competition.

This is how the score report will look like
https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/sample-psat-nmsqt-score-report.pdf

NM status will be based on Selection Index not PSAT score.

@tigerrocks13 I hope that these scores are accurate, but I have no way to be sure. But, I think the reason my math score was still okay was because of the non-calculator section. A lot of people had difficulty with that section due to the short amount of time given which may have led to lower scores.

@foliontai Ah, I see. I agree that the NC section was much harder. However, I felt great about math. Not so sure on English but we’ll see… fingers crossed.

@dongrae Since you got your score report and downloaded it, would you mind sharing it so we can see it?
