Soo I was just curious about how everyone did on the october Psats (2012) ! I'm a sophomore, and got a 211 (Cr:77, W: 63, M: 71 (I did really bad on the last two sections.. :( ) And are those percentile stuff for real? Many people i know all seem to be getting into the 99%, and there can't be too many top 1%s, can there?

I took the same PSAT. I know lots of kids at my school get really high scores (we have ~40 National Merit Finalists each year, and many more Commended Students), so you could have a similar situation at yours. I know someone, for example, who scored at about the 93rd percentile in the nation, but was only a bit above the 60th percentile at my school. That is a huge disparity, and I wouldn’t be surprised if lots of schools have similar stats, and vice versa (perhaps there are poorer schools out there who have students scoring at only the 30th percentile nationally, but who above average at their school).

By the way, that’s a great score, so don’t worry about that. I got a similar score as a sophomore last year, and jumped up to a 236 this year with a bit of studying (and the question I missed was only a stupid mistake), so as long as you study a bit, you should do amazing next year!

Great score for Sophomore. Just keep up the good work and you should have no problem to be a semifinalist/finalist.

i got a 207- CR-70, M-71, G-66 i hope for a 230 next yr.
