PSAT Scores Class of 2012

178 (FL) & happy with it. I know it’s not the best, but it’s above average, I tried my best, and I improved from sophomore year.

CR: 62 (89th percentile)
M: 53 (61st percentile…math is obviously not my strong suit)
WS: 63 (91st percentile)
Even with these scores, I’m still in the 86th percentile, so I’m perfectly fine with my score.

Although I got only 6 out of 14 Algebra & Functions questions correct, without omitting any. I am mad at myself for not omitting any! I went to a SAT Prep class that said that you should guess if you can eliminate 1…now I am regretting following that rule!

^ I’ve taken multiple practice tests, half guessing and half omitting. I did way better whenever I omitted answers, because I would always guess the wrong one. I never understood that logic, anyway!

I am SO ****ED! I got a 195, which is exactly the same as my last year score! I did worse in CR (my best subject) and Math than I did in sophomore year (I got straight 65s that year)! I studied so hard and took 5 practice tests all of which I scored 205+ on and I’m an awesome test taker so I was counting on doing significantly better than I did on the practices. The worst part is that Fl has one of the highest National Hispanic Recognition cut offs in the country (it was a 195 last year) and with my luck I most likely won’t even get that. I’m completely and totally screwed…

^I got a 195 too! ■■■!!!
Reading: 60
Math: 64
Writing: 71

■■■!!!

^CR: 61, M:63, W: 71. Weird…

69 in math and reading
59 in writing(knew it was going to be the lowest)

197 total

96% reading
95% math
86% writing

What do we need to make the NMS?

I am from FL as well. does anyone have a guess on the commended score?

NY, 236 (80, 76, 80)

Does anyone know anybody who’s gotten the scholarship before? Do you actually have to get perfect to be eligible, because it seems like one of those things where enough people could have gotten a 240 that anything lower is out of the running…

The actual PSAT score doesn’t count for anything once you’re a semi-finalist. Then you have to take the SAT (and get a good score), write an essay, have good grades, etc. Apparently about half of finalists get scholarship money. You’re (basically) already a semi-finalist, and I see no reason why you shouldn’t be able to become a finalist when the time comes :)

I got 215.

Pretty decent I assume.

Should this be NM semifinalist for Kentucky?

I got 216 but it sucks because California’s cut-off score is 219. This really sucks.

I got a 211 in PA (69 Reading, 73 Math, and 69 Writing), which is the 98th percentile. Does anyone know the cutoff score for PA- I know it’s high, which stinks. I hope I qualify for the NMS.

sigh, a very depressing night. Got son’s psat score back today. He did worse than last year. He got 215 last year and 99%. This year only 212, 98%. Being in TN, I think most likely he is not going to make it although the last two years 212 was the cutoff. I have never seen TN’s cutoff lower than the national 99%…,

Please, someone tell me I could be wrong…

i’m a junior from new york
198 last year, 225 this year (67R, 80M, 78W)
went in hardly studying any vocab, so i expect to pull my critical reading up to at least a 750 when it comes time for the SAT I

For TN, from 08-10, the cut off was 213, but last year it dipped to 212. It could be the beginning of a downward trend, or it could be a one year anomaly. A 212 score could go either way.

The last few years for PA was 214, 213, 214, 216, so no, a 211 probably won’t make it. It is definitely in line for commended, though.

For the last few years, Kentucky was 208, 209, 209, 208, so 215 is fairly safe.

Even though last year was a 219, in 2009 California was a 217, so maybe there is a glimmer of hope for a 216? It is good enough for commended, though. :)

Wishing all of you well!

Alaska does seem rather volatile, so there is hope for a 211 especially as the cutoff in 2010 was 211; however, based on cutoffs in 08, 09, and last year, I would guess that you would just miss it.

when will I get my scores back? I think I did terrible but just a little curious. My school or mail or what?

Sophomore Year 2009:
74 Critical Reading (99th percentile)
69 Math (99th percentile)
66 Writing (98th percentile)
209 Total (98th percentile)

I don’t have this year’s results back, but I’m hoping for National Merit of course!

207…math needs to go up. CA.
