I know this may sound stupid but I have heard that the SAT is somewhat easier than the PSAT. Is there any merit to this claim. Is the curve on the SAT more than the PSAT or what.

In addition, do you guys reccomend i take an SAT prep course or just study myself, i have the 10 collegeboard practice tests, the barrons's 2400 club book, and a book of vocab. I will probably get the seperate barron's books for each section of the test, is that good enough. Just to let you guys know i got a 192 of the PSAT last year and can probably get somewhere between 200-210 this year.

no its not “easier” - they are the same

However, each error on the PSAT costs a lot more points (which adds up quickly)

My PSAT: 199
My SAT: 2270

But this was a combination of stupid mistakes on PSAT and focusing more on the SAT

It depends. For me the PSAT was harder to score higher on because each missed question hurts more than on the SAT. A friend of mine however scores lower on his SAT because there are more questions and more opportunities to make silly mistakes.

the PSAT only has 5 sections and doesn’t have an essay. The writing is only one section. Less questions but i heard that the vocabulary in the CR is easier.

no vocab is the same for both

so if i am understanding this correctly, the SAT could only seem easier because each mistake doesn’t hurt the overall score as much as on the PSAT. That’s good. I hope that i can get a good enough SAT score on the first try so that i don’t have to take them again.
