if i got a 55 on verbal and 66 on math, is it decent for applying to sls?

i think i got a 58-v 60-m and I got in. To get admitted to sls, you need to really stand out in something. Such as if you are a varsity captain, you'll get accepted even if ur psats are in the basement. I stood out in class rank so thats why I got in. Anyway don't worry, youll get in sls. Psats are the epitomy of useless....unless you get that scholarship thing.

When I applied for SLS last night the confirmation email said that I should hear back from them in about 7 business days. Does that mean find out if I was accepted/rejected for SLS in 7 business days, or will they just send another email saying that they are still looking over my application?

I hope that they pay attention to PSAT scores, as that was one of the areas where I really stood out.

How does SLS factor into someone's chances of getting into USMA? Does it increase their chances any?

Thanks!

The advantage of going to sls is to learn more about the academy. They wont add any points to your whole candidate score, but it will serve a a valuable experience to show your interest in usma. Also, going to sls gets your interview over with, lets you take the cfa, and allows your preliminary application to be on record. That will allow you to compete for an loa earlier and ultimately allow you to get an appointment earlier. The experience will give you a big advantage at nomination interviews and when writing your essay. Many of the kids who go to sls get in not because it gave them a "point" advantage but because they are already the best of the best and would have gotten in anyway(I hope that made sense).

You don't need to be stellar in anything to be accepted to SLS. I had 54 math and 51 verbal, 18% class rank, 3.5 GPA, varsity athelete and I got accepted.

Right but if I remember correctly you also sent in your sat scores which were in fact steller and probably the main reason why you ended up getting in.

Yeah, as long as you stand out in something, you should get in. My psat's weren't great (M 68 V 62), but being a varisty athlete and president of a club sure helps

I sent in my SAT scores for NASS at Anapolis, but I don't think they were considered for SLS. I got my acceptance before I got my scores back if I remember correctly. I may be mistaken though.
