PSU BA/MD program?

is this one more competitive than Browns PLME?

more competitive only because of stats and in terms of positions open

i thought brown's PLME was more since they only offer 100 seats and over 2100 ppl apply or something..im not sure of the stats for PSUs program

well PSU requires a 1450 SAT, top 10% base. They're a 6-yr program opposed to Brown's 8-yr.

Despite this, I'm pretty sure Brown's is more competitive because of its reputation as a combined program. PSU is obviously still super-competitive, but just because it is a 6 year doesn't mean more people apply to it. Most people I know have heard of PLME but not of PSU's program.

well....Brown's med school isn't first tier..not to say Jefferson is bu tyeah

According to the book, "From High School to Med School", by Jason Yanofski and Ashish Raju, the top Tier 1 combined degree programs are as followed:
1. Rice U
2. Brown
3. Penn State
4. U Rochester
5. Case Western
6. Northwestern
7. Lehigh
8. Boston U
9. U Wisconsin
10. NYU
11. UC-Riverside
12. Villanova
13. College of NJ
14. U Mich
15. U Miami

Obviously, this is a pretty old list, as they still have some schools that dropped their program on here...and I don't really agree with some of their rankings, but anyway...here it is.

UMICH is that low?!! I find that VERY hard to believe.

And why would Lehigh and Villanova have separate ranks? They lead to the same med school....relatively same type of undergrad.....

not arguing with you btw....just with the rankings...

I see wehre you said you don't agree with some of them, PipingHotTofu :]

lol yep...idk what they were thinking...

don't forget PSU you have to take the MCAT

i just sent out my app. i really hope i get in :(

ditto aznsnake...time to keep our fingers crossed.

did anyone else have a problem formatting the essays in the premedical-medical section of the app? when they appear in the summary and review section just before i submit, they become one big jumble of text without separate paragraphs, tabs, etc.

if they become like that, go over to them and hit 'enter' when needed. it should fix it.

I applied to this program, hoping I get in :)

i sent mine as one mumbo jumbo. i couldn't fix it

i hope that I can get an interview despite my extenuating cirumstance. It has really motivated me to do med.

i think you've got a shot

its sort of a long shot. I contacted Dr. Mitchell and he said that despite not being in the top 10% he will make sure my app will be reviewed.

well that might be a good sign......think positively
