It says I am 101 on the waitlist, which it has since I signed up. Then a bunch of students got enrolled and the waitlist shrunk to about 50 people. The waitlist has again grown to 95, but the entire time it said that I was 101 on the waitlist. How is this possible? Is the system going to update itself later? Does the system really suck that bad? Please let me know.

bump for you...

Maybe because some people are declared psych majors? IDK.

Cardinal, are you trying to rack up posts?
I notice quite a few of the topics on the 1st page of this forum have only one replier: you. And those roughly consist of IDK, and bump. chuckle

Not criticizing, I'm merely amused.

sflye13:

There are several factors which would cause Psychology 167AC to take students, shrink the waitlist, but leave you stranded.

Instead of going into an extremely lengthy explanation, let me show you the course restrictions list currently on the schedule, and highlight why this is.

enrollment information

98 student(s) are enrolled, with a limit of 150 and 102 student(s) are on the waiting list, with a limit of 170.

This Waiting List will be processed manually by the department.

course restrictions

Restricted to Students with a class level of Sophomore or Junior or Senior

Seats have been reserved for:

Students with a major of Psychology and Students with a class level of Junior or Senior (Open)
Open seating (Full)

If you aren't sophomore or above, you're out of luck permanently.
However, the reason why you don't budge from your #101 is because this waitlist doesn't at all care what number you are.

Since the waitlist is listed as manually processed, the professor picks and chooses who comes into the class, with the order totally irrelevant. Thus, your number does not change.

As for why the SIZE of the waitlist changes, it is because the professor admitted to the class the Psychology majors/the juniors and seniors/the students he likes/students who personally went to his office and begged/students whose advisors gave an advisor code because the students won't graduate unless they have this Psych/AC requirement.

It's like going to one of those places where you have to take a number, except in this case the doorperson picks who goes in order regardless--but you're still holding the same slip of paper with your number on it.

haha, no allorion. I feel like a social outcast on CC when I make a thread an no one responds to it (if there is such a thing! ha) so I wanted to bump questions that went unanswered
