I'm currently waitlisted for the last class I need to graduate (Psych 101). I'm number 1 and haven't moved since Friday. I'd have expected that by now at least a few people would have dropped, and since it's on AUTO that I'd have been enrolled. The other thing about this class is that it time conflicts with another class in which I am also waitlisted. Could this be the source of the stall in me being enrolled? If I were to drop this other class (UGBA 105), would I be able to be enrolled? Another factor could be that since I was supposed to take this class in my junior year, the student services advisor for psych said that I would be waitlisted. what I'm thinking is that since I waited until my last semester to take it, I'm being "punished" and all the junior psych majors are being let into the class before me. I hate to say it, but this issue is really stressing me out because I would absolutely hate to stay an extra semester (even summer) at this school for a single class.

tl;dr can a time conflict with another class or the fact that i waited until my last semester to take a class i should have taken my junior year be what's keeping me in waitlist purgatory at #1?

Many thanks to anyone who can help!!

Time conflict is most definitely not your problem. Telebears doesn’t care; personal experience speaking here.

The junior year thing might be it – there may be quite a number of seats reserved for juniors and because of your advanced standing you’re competing for other senior/open seats. Even though you’re waitlist #1, and even though it’s auto, if there are no seats open in your category (i.e. only juniors are dropping, no one else is), you won’t get in.

It sucks, but try begging the psych advisor saying that you really need this class to graduate. The school system generally is really interested in pushing students to graduation, so if it hinges on just this one class, constant harassment might just work.

out of curiosity, why did you avoid 101 for an entire year, lol?

but talk to Emilie, she can be a pain sometimes, but she will help you if you ask her and explain to an extent.

@meakme: Thanks for the advice! The only thing I am scared of is that my pestering will have the opposite effect. At least this is what I do at my job when customers harass me.

@W4C: long story short: 1st semester - conflicted with a music class essential to getting my minor; turns out I ended up hating EVERYTHING about the music department. 2nd and 3rd semester - class was on Friday’s and I couldn’t do Fridays.

I hate talking to Emilie, she really is a pain and the new girl they have is not mentally equipped for the job (i.e., she loses patience really fast). If by Thursday I haven’t moved, I’m going to go and say something because I refuse to stay in this putrid, revolting POS school for another semester.
