Psychology Department at Wake Forest

Hey I'm a junior in high school from Colorado. I love everything I've seen and heard about Wake so far and I'm strongly considering applying early decision next fall. My one concern is the strength of the psychology department, as psychology is my intended major. I hope to receive the schooling necessary to become a clinical psychologist after college. Does anyone have any experience with the psychology department at Wake? Does Wake have the classes necessary to become a clinical psychologist? Is Wake a good fit for a psychology major? Thanks!
Also, I have a 3.89 unweighted GPA and a 30 on the ACT. I know this isn't much info, but at first glance, what are you thoughts on my chances of acceptance if I apply ED? Thanks again!

Hi!!

I was originally a psychology major so I can probably answer some of your questions. I LOVE our psychology department. I have had amazing professors who are doing tons of research, some of which they recruit students to help with. The psychology advisors are AWESOME and keep in constant communication with the students.

Wake offers a wide variety of courses in the psychology department, so yes, enough to become a clinical psychologist to my knowledge. In my opinion, Wake is a great fit for a psych major, and we have a lot of them. Students do independent research and the professors take great interest in each person as an individual.

Although I never comment on if I think people will get in or not, I would strongly encourage you to apply ED if Wake is “the school for you”.

Best of luck!

Thanks a lot!
