Psychology major at Berkeley

So i read that psychology is a capped major at berkeley and if a major is overcrowded, it's hard to get in classes there?
Also, while I've read about berkeley's reputation for grade deflation I heard that some majors are pretty easy as well, so what kind of major would psychology be?

Another thing I'm worried about is getting the faculty's attention.. I'm sure that especially for a course like psychology and a huge school like berkeley, it's important to be close with the teachers to ensure a good grade (which can't be guranateed from merely studying). Me, I am not the most talkative person in class, and I thought the best way to get close to a teacher was to ask them lots of questions about homework etc, but I've found this is not necessarily true. Perhaps talking about engaging subjects and my goals would make me stand out, but I'm not good at initiating conversions with teachers like that

1) Yes, it is overcrowded. If you want into the major, you will have to push yourself to get a high GPA in the prereq’s to have a good shot at getting in. I would recommend having a backup major just in case.

2) No major is “easy” in the sense that you still have to study and work no matter what. However, from what I’ve heard, Psych is definitely doable in terms of workload.

3) Don’t sweat it with the faculty stuff. Your grade will depend on your TA/GSI (teaching assistant) whom you will have weekly discussion sections with. They’ll have office hours and you can go to those to establish a relationship. I can tell you that a lot of lower div Psych classes rely on multiple choice questions for their tests, so them liking you or not is really irrelevant :)
