Psychology recommendation and optional letter questions

I'm new here, so if mess anything up, I apologize.

I'm going to try for Stanford (as if I'd get in, ha).

"We recommend selecting grade 11 or 12 teachers in two of the following subject areas:

English
Mathematics
Science
Foreign language
History/social studies"

I'm getting a rec from my French teacher so that obviously qualifies as foreign language, but does Psychology fall under those categories? I'm really not sure whether it belongs to science or social studies, since what I've looked up calls it a social science. How helpful.

I'm in the IB program, so Psych is one of my core classes rather than a regular elective, but I'm still tentative about its category.

Also, for the optional letter. Does it matter when it's sent in? As in, can I ask someone and they can fax it to Stanford 2-3 weeks before I even submit my actual application with everything else?

The order in which the teachers/recommenders send it in doesn’t matter (I think). As long as YOUR application is in by Nov 1 or Jan 1 or whenever you’ll be fine.

Psych counts as a science

Thanks, that’s alleviated some of my fears.
