I was wondering if a current student could give me a little insight on what majoring in public health at UVa is like? I’ll be on grounds in the fall, and I know you don’t have to declare a major until end of your 2nd year, but I like to have an idea of what I want. I was considering a bio major, but I personally feel like I want to branch out and major in something that is more collaborative, plus I also like the ethics component, if that makes any sense. Any insight would be highly appreciated! (:
I assume you are talking about the Global Public Health? This major is brand new–beginning this fall. It was previous only a minor, so maybe someone who was already minoring in it could offer more insight. It’s part of the Global Studies umbrella so if your interest is solely scientific and not involving international policy as well, it’s probably not the program for you.
