Public Health- Non Pre-med Track

I was just wondering...am I at a disadvantage if i don't chemistry and ochem when i apply for the public health major?

Thanks for your help guys

…bump

not at all. id say ur advantaged if anything since you actually will have a higher major GPA than saps like me who took chem 3a/3al and bio 1a and got less than stellar grades. just go with two of the easier ones like nst 10/mcb 61/mcb 32 or whatever instead and ace em. other than your gpa, the new public health major admissions just requires a brief statement of interest

you gotta still rock bio 1b though (get >=B- which really isnt too hard in hindsight) but youll be competing with a buncha cut-throat premeds like me (…only kidding lol)

Oh i see. Thanks for the info. Do any of you guys know if i’ll be at a disadvantage if i dont take Biology 1A?

I’m sorry, I don’t have an answer to your question but I have another question that is similar to this: Assuming you take the non-chem route and apply for Public Health, what if you don’t get into Public Health? What major can you declare with all the courses you’ve taken, seeing as you can’t fall back on being an IB/MCB major since you didn’t take chem?

^^social welfare is a good back up plan

If you get above a B- in Bio 1B you can do Psych as a back up :D

well actually, there is no minimum bio 1b grade for psych as for PH. you just need to have a good overall major gpa (~3.2) to get in.
