public/private schools with most school pride

"Private: Stanford, Harvard, MIT"

HAHAHAHAHAHHA, Harvard/MIT are not at all known for school pride. I don't know why two people have mentioned Harvard so far. Of the schools in the ivy league, I would say that Princeton, Dartmouth and Yale and Penn have the most spirit.

this is kind of dumb because what one person considers school spirit isn't what another does, not to mention favoritism/regional favorites

Well it is pretty obvious MIT doesn't fall in the bombastic school pride category. I really don't know where Harvard came from either. Cornell hockey games can get pretty awesome though.

wake forest. carolina blue is just the past tense of carolina blows.

Agreed. :)

In no particular order:

Boston College, USC, UCLA, Duke, UVa, Wake Forest, Stanford, UNC-Chapel Hill, Michigan, UT Austin.

As for schools that aren't D1, Trinity University in San Antonio is D3 and has incredible school pride/sports game attendence. They have won the championship title in their league for football 14 times in a row, and have won the President's Trophy for best overall sports program for the past 6 years straight.

Hey, since when does school pride = amazing school sports?

MIT students don't go to football games, but that doesn't mean we don't love our school.

^that's what I'm talking about. Mollie is a lot more inclined to think MIT is up their in school spirit because she goes there.

I'd say that any place where you'll be living and spending a majority of the year at you'd have tremendous pride for that school.

Buuut arguement's sake,

Public: Penn State, UNC

Private: Duke, Cornell, BU

o and I agree with borntorun :-)

Public: UF has got some great spirit
Private: 2 words.....Duke Basketball :)

public: ut longhorns, uf gators, a&m aggies, unc tar heels
private: duke blue devils and STANFORD CARDINAL baby! i mean for stanford's size, it's extremely proud...

Let's be honest, they are fine places if they are the best you can do. You will still face a high percentage of lesbians compared to the population and most no mainstream candidate who had it as a top choice.

An interesting set of assertions. Your source of information is?

-- hoedown (loser graduate of woman's college, who apparently had no other admissions options :) )

I'd also throw in the military academies. USAFA, USGCA, USMA, USMMA, and USNA. Those guys are huge on spirit.

Also taps to UCB. Lots of Cal folks like to rub their "academic supremacy" in your face. It might suck for a non-Cal, but heck if it's not school spirit.

PRIVATES:
Duke University
Georgetown University
Harvard University
Stanford University
University of Notre Dame
University of Southern California

PUBLICS:
Indiana University-Bloomington
Ohio State University-Columbus
Pennsylvania State University
Texas A&M University-College Station
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
University of Texas-Austin
University of Virginia
University of Wisconsin-Madison

Are we talking about sports...b/c I here very little athletic pride from Harvard or Dartmouth, I've seen little at all pride from Darmouth alums, and I've lived in all cornesrs of the country.

You have got to be kidding!!! Everyone knows Dartmouth alum are over the top loyal. One of the highest alumni giving rates which says it all. You must have been in some strange corners!!!

I never said they are loyal, but I mean I don't see alumni parading their school color all over their body, painting their car with the logo, covering their care with bumper stickers, loading up on every college accessory and then making their own (all above is basically USC). When I'm think of pride, I'm not think of alumni giving rate, I'm thinking of over-the-top showmanship of your school, students that rub in your face that we go here and WE ARE THE LONGHORNS!!! LOL, I did not just sa that...:)

Giving says it all, windshild stickers are cheap!

What is MIT's mascot? A calculator?
