Purdue Early Action for Fall 2023 Admission

Your student crafts a letter of continued interest and updates and shares and discusses it (or even gets the counselor’s help in writing it) and then asks the counselor to also reach out to Purdue. It’s presenting a cohesive message.

Thank you. It is a likely reason. I went to the website on Friday and noted down the dates but did not try to register and there was no message in
the dates webpage. After checking airfares on Saturday, I registered on Sunday and only email was “you are registered”. So I was blindsided and worried but now I feel better after your explanation. I registered again now for Feb 20. Let us see.

Thank you!

DS assistant coach is a Purdue alum, she is going to have him write her a letter of her interest in Purdue and also submit her own loci showing interest and commitment to Purdue, keeping our fingers crossed. We considered Purdue a match and others are all reaches for her, she did get into IU but not really keen on that.

A second choice is only evaluated if rejected from a primary choice. If not admitted to her primary choice in RD, she will be considered for her second.

Really Late, But got into Purdue FYE as an International and that too from India.

Badhaiyaan!

Can anyone advise best way to plan a visit, fly into Chicago seems the most common (or find one to Indianapolis). Should we take a shuttle/Lyft, or is a rental car needed? Recommendations on lodging? Will try to find a tour or event in Feb. Thanks.

If you can get a direct flight to Indy, I’d fly there and then rent a car. We like staying at the Hilton Garden Inn or the Hampton Inn on State St in W. Lafayette. They are across the street from each other and you can walk to campus.

I am planning on southwest because of miles/no cancellation fee. Flying to Cincinnati because 1/3rd cheaper and combining with a day of skiing. Downside is it adds 1hr 45 minutes driving. I was also told there are direct shuttles from Chicago and Indianapolis to Purdue.

There is a shuttle called Reindeer Shuttle.

Struggling with this too. Chicago and Indy are both really expensive right now. Might have to try Cincy!

The new college ranking (2023) is out and Purdue is #4 for engineering.

My son got admitted to FYE and Honors College. Does anyone know what the average class size is? Essentially, will those attending the Honors College be in the same class as those who aren’t? Or what is the difference between them? Thanks in advance.

Honors college students represent 10% of the incoming class with proportionately equal representation for all intended colleges/majors. When my d was a freshman the incoming FYE class size was approximately 2000, and there were 200 honors engineers.

She had two honors specific classes -engineering design and honors seminar which were only for honors students. Her other courses (calc, chem, and oral communication) were with the general Purdue population.

After freshman year, there are no further honors only classes but by then students have transitioned to their major which naturally cuts down their cohort. My D’s major only had 180 students when she transitioned and only 165 the following year.

First semester Freshman year my D had two very small classes, one medium, and two large lectures with small break out sessions. FWIW my classes were much bigger when I was an undergrad at Cornell.

Congrats. He must be very excited. What was his gpa, class rank, in-state/OOS, any ECs?
