But it says 1/15 on their website. Are they going to change it?
Is there any history of Purdue releasing decisions on a Sunday?
Last year my daughter was simultaneously admitted to Purdue and the Honors College. However, the HC ended up oversubscribed and not all students were able to live in the Honors College Residences. Parents were upset, even though most of those students were housed in a neighboring dorm. So, don’t be surprised if they take it a little slower this year.
In 2018, my DS received decision on Jan 15th as well. It was a Monday. So may be they will stick with Jan 15th no matter what day it falls on.
you guys are right. just checked my brother’s old threads and he was admitted on 1/14/22 (he checked his portal around 7:30pm on that day)! so hopefully this year it will release on Friday again (1/13/23)!!
My son is a double major in CS and AI. I think he may have been the first AI major student in the program actually- most kids did not even know about it last semester. AI is basically an expansion of the CS ML track. In addition to the ML element, it does include more cognition, philosophy, etc. elements. It also requires some math but my son is a math minor so it was nothing beyond his minor. I think having a BS in AI will be a huge draw for Purdue, a very smart move. AI was always my son’s area of focus so when Purdue announced the major last spring, it finalized his decision. To our knowledge, only CMU had a AI BS otherwise and he was waitlisted at CMU.
When and how does a student declare double major at Purdue? Is it in Sophomore year and does it increase the total number of years to graduate from 4 to 5 or so (assuming double major requires additional courses)?
My son applied for both majors when registering but I think because the AI was so new, they didn’t actually give him a formal double major designation until last week. I think that timing was just due to the newness of the major. His advisor suggested he minor in math during the advising session in the summer because it would only be 2 more classes (he was through Calc 3 in HS). So the net difference was 6 classes difference from CS to AI major and then 2 more for his minor. He went in with around 27 credits accepted (more earned but were not transferrable) so he is still on track for 4 years, but he took 17 hours this semester (plus a 3 credit test out) and is on for 17 next, so its doable in 4 years but you cant lollygag much. They also offer a 5 year Masters in CS (usually done in 4 with HS credits) but he probably wants a different school for graduate work so opted to do the double major.
Thank you, that is very helpful insight
No for the last few years it has never been on a Sunday , always a Friday
My daughter made adjustments during her counseling session preparing for 2nd semester course registration. A tentative 4-year plan is mapped out at that time.
Pre-Freshman year advising was pretty much “here’s what you should take”. The “no, you can’t take those until later years” before enrolling became “Oh, I guess you can take those second semester” when her plan was fully outlined with her AP/DE credits. She was admitted to CS and when I checked her transcript last week it now reflects two majors and two minors.
Good luck everyone ! This is the week!! Please let people on here know as notices start coming out !!
Purdue’s website still says Jan 15. Fingers crossed decisions are released this Friday!
I received a response from the a/o that it is still 1/15 at around 5 ET.
Thanks for asking and reporting back! Glad to know so my kid and his bazillion classmates who applied there won’t be checking their portals all weekend.
Yes. A phone call to the the Purdue Admissions Office today also confirmed that results are being released on Sunday, Jan 15th at 5pm.
Hello all,
any idea about the Masters decision date ?
I had submitted my application in Oct 2022 and still haven’t heard back from them.
Thanks in advance
I believe it’s program specific but that most programs release before 3/1.
Anyone think we can expect tomorrow, 1/13 Friday? Or only Sunday?
