First you need to get accepted to UW- admissions are to the university as a whole, regardless of intended major. Your gpa is rather low, especially for your test scores. UW may worry that you do not have good study habits and not be able to be successful. Academics count more than EC’s. With your ability you should be able to do better in your classes.
@Madison85 33 with 32R, 35M, 35E, 29E is my best ACT test. My best subscores are from this ACT test lol. And same with SAT, a 2050. 2050 is my best composite. This is not superscored.
You’ll get accepted at Purdue, but, unless it’s changed you need to be accepted into Engineering based on your first year GPA. You are competitive at UIUC for computer engineering. Your math subscore will be looked at and is a plus for your application. They will look at the courses offered at your high school and whether you’ve taken some of the most challenging of them, and they will compare your GPA and courses taken against those from your school who have previously applied and been admitted. Overall, your unweighted GPA is your weakest stat, but again, if that’s a “good” GPA for your school, then it’s not as much of an issue. Good luck.
I think you have a good chance at both ACT is very competitive for both and while GPA might be a bit low rigor will help. I don’t think it would be the GPA that holds you back more the bland ECs, but regardless I think you will get in. Best of luck!
@illini23 I was accepted into Purdue and I’m a senior in high school currently , two of my friends have been excepted to be doing one is going there now. I will have completed 10 AP classes and I know my friend that is in Purdue now took 15. My other friend will have 10 or 11 APs as well. I am not sure how important they are but we have taken a good amount of them.
The University of Washington admits freshman as a general pool of applicants. You would be admitted to pre-engineering and you would need to declare major your sophomore year based on your GPA. However, UW also does allow a very limited number of direct-admits in which you would be guaranteed into your major without selective review your sophomore year.
Direct admission is very competitive and is done automatically for every CS/CSE application.
Your chances for that seems slightly difficult because they prefer in-state applicants and look at GPA more than standardized scores. If you are in-state then you seem better off for direct admission but you still would be around the 25th percentile of applicants to CS/CSE GPA wise.
However, I think you will definitely get into the University of Washington (into the school itself) but CSE direct-admission seems difficult.
UIUC Computer engineering is very competitive. Your GPA is very low while your ACT is around or slightly below their admission average. It would be a reach for you.
I talked with a counselor in the CSE building at UW. The average Direct Admission admit ACT is 31.
Also, they care more about the passion and relevant information on your personal statement than just about anything else when it comes to direct admit according to everyone I’ve talked to.
