(I think I posted this in the wrong section originally, let's try it here)

Hi everyone, first post here at the college confidential community. I am currently a sophomore at Purdue University studying Industrial and Computer technology scheduled to graduate in spring 08. At the conclusion of this last semester, I ended up with a cumulative GPA of 3.0, with a 3.4 for my major, and the plan is to maintain a 3.0 until graduation.

If I can keep above a 3.0, I would like to go to grad school, something like an MBA program. I understand that to get into any of the top schools a nice GPA and standardized test score is mandatory. My question to you is, do gpa and test scores guarantee admission, or are there other parts of the equation I should be equally concerned about?

Another point of interest is my job experience. I've been working part time doing computer/online advertising for a small llc the last two years - would the admission committee take that into account, or do they want post graduate experience instead part time?

Yea I dont think so either, you can mention it of course, cant hurt.

If you want an MBA from Krannert your gunna need at least 5 years of some REAL work experience. Some programs like Weatherhead (Case Western R.) REQUIRE at least 5 years.

Its to bad I dont think w/ that GPA you can get into their accelerated 3+2 MBA program...

GMAT is very important as well, I think undergrad GPAs dont mean much to business schools, unless theyre catastrophic. Just look at the avg GPA on USNEWS.com for places like IU and Purdue its around 3.2. BUT their GMATs are above 650, I think the AVG GMAT for purdue is 667.

Krannert MBA are very respected TOP regional, not quite on par w/ the big ones tho (harvard, wharton, stanford, kelogg) the average starting salary+bonus should be around 90k

By the way I was accepted to Krannert as and undergrad, economics major, Could you tell me what its like? Is it a hard school, can you easily get over 3.2 GPA w/out doing anything? is it Crowded? How about job prospects?

I'm from Indiana myself my mum taught and studyed @ purdue

job prospects are good for the regional area, beyond that will require internships and more effort on your part to submit resumes and plan interviews
