sorry it may be a stupid question but i'm wondering... if you apply to the Medill School of Journalism, but then later decide that you want to go into something else, what would you be allowed to do? or if you went to the Weinberg College of Arts, but later decided you wanted to get into journalism..?

You can always apply for an inter-school transfer. Some are easier than others. Medill is the hardest to transfer into because it's usually at maximum capacity with freshmen, and its stats are the highest. But anyway, I have never met someone who was rejected for a transfer, so there you go.

oh i see, thank you!

"I have never met someone who was rejected for a transfer"

does this include from WCAS to Medill? Because i want to do that and people on this board made me very nervous that it would be really hard to do

It is supposedly the hardest to do, but I still know 3 people who did it (and no one who wanted to but didn't get in). So it's definitely worth a shot. Talk to advisors about the best way to go about it.

yeah, i'm a transfer so i can't meet with my advisor until the 14th

just be sure you have good answers to why medill? why now? why didn't you apply to medill in the 1st place? what classes are you interested in and why? where do you see yourself in 5yrs? basic elevator speech stuff to show that you know what you're doing.

fyi, Medill students' stats are NOT better than Weinberg students' (GPA, SAT score), however they do tend to have specific ECs that pertain to journalism.
