I keep reading the list for class of 2012, and I am starting to get nervous because I have not heard anything since my nomination. I was wondering if this because I do not have a LOA? Is there anybody out there in this position? Are most of the appointments already out?

Don't worry yet. At this point no news is still good news. CC has always had an abnormal amount of early appointments. The vast majority of appoints will be sent out over the next month and a half. Don't lose faith.

Remember the books only closed last sat. which means that they started their appts., on Monday. There are over 400 congressman and 100 sen. to assign appts to, add into the fact that there are candidates with multiple noms, it is like making a puzzle. My only suggestion is to take a deep breath. Only get nervous when you hear from your best friend that they got an appt. stating that it was from your nom source. Even in that case it is still not over since there is the NWL, which is another way to get in.

The SA's state the majority go out in the MONTH of March. Great to be Mar. 3, but there is no way they can get out @ 1200+ in one week

RockyII -
Hang in there. USMA uses a rolling admissions process. They have been and are rolling out appointments but it is NOT over!

I would suggest giving your MALO a call if you have an established relationship with that person - if not feel free to either call or email your Regional Admissions officer. The folks in admissions, while very busy, are extremely nice and helpful. You will most likely get an honest answer to how you stand.

Have you vistited West Point yet - as a candidate?

Have not visited as a candidate yet. ECs keep me busy with back to back sports seasons, church activities, and work, I did not visit schools until Spring break last year. I did go to overnight sports camps at West Point, which is what got me interested in WP really young.

And remember that if your MOC does use a principle nomination, WP may be waiting to hear from that nominee whether or not they are accepting the appointment, or if they are going to defect and go to Navy or Air Force ;), which then opens up the slot for the next one in line. Actually, I guess this is what would also occur with a competitive slate from the MOC, so it is no wonder the process is as tedious as it is from admissions board's perspective.

Our son got his appt on Feb 6 (he also did not have an LOA), but we found out he was the principle nominee from his congressman, and he also had a nomination from a senator. We do not know which MOC slot his appointment is filling from WP as the admissions people figure all that out but don't necessarily reveal it to the candidate. I believe his appt was revealed as early as it was only because of the MOC's decision to use the principle method. He had congratulatory calls from both the congressman and the senator, so there is really no way to tell where he was on the senator's list.

I do know how hard it was for him (and me) to be reading about others getting their appt notifications and still not hearing himself, so I understand your anguish.

Please hang in there and don't be discouraged. We are all thinking happy thoughts for you!

I don't think my MOC uses the primary nomination. I realize that an appointment could be here any day...or not. That's the hard part. Thanks everyone for your support.
