I got a 1410 on the PSAT. Do I have a good chance at qualifying for National Merit, not as a semifinalist but just into the program? My teacher told me that anyone that scores above a 1400 has a great chance at being accepted. My residence is in Owensboro, Kentucky.
I had a 650 EBRW and a 760 M, by the way.
Unfortunately your SI computes to a 206 which isn’t high enough for KY (or for Commended either). Your teacher is not quite correct because what really matters are the section scores. The SI is computed as (2*EBRW+M) / 10. The SI should be available on a tab of your score report so hopefully you can find that and see for yourself. The SI for KY was 218 this year and Commended was 212.
