Ques. for adminDan or anyone:

Hi AdmissionsDan or anyone else that can help me out:

Where do the incoming freshmen do their banking? On-Campus? Off-Campus? Can anyone give me some choices that are available? Do we set up new accounts on-line? Or set them up on move-in day? Are there banks that have tellers and ATM machines that are both accessible to students?

Thanks in advance. I'm sure this is basic info, but I want to be sure we'll be all set. :)

This is another basic question: where do kids go for haircuts? I'm sure it varies, can you give me some ideas? Anyone know what haircuts cost?

Just trying to cover the basics here! Thanks!

There are ATM’s on campus (the campus center, specifically). But they also exit at other places/buildings on campus.

Thanks so much for answering, Buzzers, but I’m looking for a more specific answer. What banks do the kids on campus use? Are there tellers nearby? ATM for what banks specifically? Are those tellers in the building where the garage is located? What bank are they associated with?

We have a small, local bank that we use now, so my S will have to start a new account for whatever banks are convenient to the campus. Thanks! :)

My D opened a Bank of America account since there is a BOA atm in the student center. I don’t know about tellers but here is some info from Tufts:

There are lots of places for a haircut in Davis Sq----don’t know the cost.

Thanks so much, momiac. This info. is very useful. I have gotten so much mail from Tufts but need to organize and read through it. So many things going on at the moment, it’s a bit overwhelming! (There are actually things going on NOT related to starting college…imagine that!)

And I thought the summer is supposed to be more relaxing! We’ll figure it all out slowly but surely.

I certainly did not find that summer relaxing in any way. He’s in for a really exciting time!

I also set up a Bank of America account. It’s free if you do e-billing (online) I think. Don’t quote me on it though. I know there’s BoA on campus, so that’s good. I’ve had no problems with them this summer. They’ve been extremely helpful and kind, especially to an 18 year old who has no idea what half of the stuff going on is about. You can even IM them! As for haircuts, I’m curious as well. I’m a guy, but I care about my hair :P

There are a TON of places to get haircuts in Davis Square.

Thank you everyone who answered my questions.

Looks like opening an account with Bank of America is the way to go! :)

One more question:
I was told that Barnes & Noble giftcards can be used at the Tufts bookstore. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks!

^I am 90% sure that is right. I believe it’s a Barnes and Noble branch - hence it’s website address.“tufts.bncollege.com”

^^^Thanks so much for the info, Mathmom:
We got something in the mail from Tufts about this, so I will pass along to my S so he can use it!

Yes, Momiac:
He is beyond ready…he is very psyched and hopes the 4 years won’t fly by too fast!
