Thank you!! I’m okay! I’ll be fine. I’m very happy for those who received the scholarship. I just have to work harder ya know? I’m not use to rejection and this was kind of a wake up call. I just have to prepare for the NCM which worries me that I may not be named a finalist. Other than that, I’m very grateful for QB and I love this program very much. It has given me a voice to explain my side of the story to AdComs and has gotten me ahead when it comes to the college process. Haha, no sad faces here. Disappointed? Yes. Quitter? No.

Got the Yale conference and college trip! Is anyone else worried that they will select the summer scholars too close to the deadline? I’m hoping to attend either the Harvard or Stanford program this summer but the deadline to pay all expenses is around May 20 I believe.
Stats:
4.6 W, 1860 SATS, valedictorian, three season captain, essay revolved around gaining determination

Got the Stanford conference, college counseling, and nomination for trips
Still waiting on Norte Dame decision for summer program which should be May 1. Hopefully I get it. Congrats to all who got award and to those who didn’t remember to keep your head because you are amazing. Don’t let an award define you. We must keep pushing ourselves.

I’m a little confused. It seems that we all got the same notification, College Prep Scholar, nomination for college visit and possibility to win summer programs at various schools. Is that correct? Some seem to be saying that they already “won” other things. ??? Just curious if they have already been selecting other “winners” already.

Can the ones accepted into the prep pgm provide us with family’s AGI income and your demographic ethnicity? these are the other factors looked at. Awilo13, you might need to work harder, maybe, but you might need to be poorer, too, or perhaps be an underrepresented minority, both of which attributes you wd not have any discretion on.

Also, from some of the replies here, it looks like some got in w/o a std ized test result. is this true?

@idic5, I had PSAT scores but no SAT/ACT. Still a standardized test, though… @PaolaGarcia, QuestBridge says that recipients are contacted by mid-May, so there’s still time to hope ya get one!
My stats were 3.55 unweighted GPA, 4.786 weighted, 204 PSAT score and too many extracurriculars with leadership positions. My essay had to do with a lapse in determination and how I got back on track.

I am a 2013 College Prep Scholar! Very honored and humbled with the award. I am nominated for telementoring with Amherst, nominated for an all expense paid campus visit, and I am waitlisted for the College Admission Conference. Really hoping that I am given the opportunity to go to the conference if space opens up but still thankful for what I got :).Congrats to everyone who applied! I found this as great experience for when we actually apply for college and an overall great opportunity.
My stats are 3.75 unweighted (not sure weighted), only took the PSAT so far and didn’t do great(equivalent to a 1700 SAT score), but I have great ECs. I think my short answers + essays helped stood me out. Also I have a great upward trend in my grades since my freshman year. In my personal statement, I wrote about the risk that you took and I wrote about my first pageant and how I gained so much from it knowing nothing coming into it and how it has shaped me into who I am today and what I want to do when I am older. I also talked about how winning Miss Congeniality showed me that character is what is more important than anything because you never know who is watching, etc etc etc. Plus I prayed over my application so I know that was a HUGE factor! Never got to see my recommendation but I assume it was good!
