I've completed my application for the Questbridge National College Match, but something just occurred to me. I live in the suburbs, meaning I've gotten better opportunities and a better living style than urban school kids have had. Our house is worth about 200k and we have about 100k in investments, but we only make 15k a year (my dad is unemployed). Do you think this is considered financially in need? I understand there are many other factors (ie, my parents pay full tuition for my brother's college education and I have to work to earn money for my activities). It seems as though most kids that are selected as finalists come from urban areas.

Give it a try and see. We’re also suburban, and ds1 made it a few years ago.

Thanks. I also explained some other factors that made my living style difficult, and, honestly, I explained how we were only able to buy this house in the suburbs with the money from my non-nuclear family.

Just a question, maybe your family isn’t as bad off if they can afford to pay your brothers tuition?? You should ask your parents. And if dad is only making $15,000/year… this is a little confusing…

Oh, my brother’s tuition is at a community college for a few thousand a year.
