I submitted my application Friday morning and officially opted out of the match this afternoon. I am still nervous to see if I get finalist though…

Just curious… why would you opt out of the College Match. I mean if you get accepted then great. If not, you can participate in the Regular Decision anyway. Am I missing something?

I don’t know about ArtsyGirl but there are a few reasons that students choose to do QB but not match. Some people believe you can only be matched with a 0 EFC and if they know their EFC is greater, sometimes quite a bit greater, they believe the odds of admission doing ED/EA at their top school is much better, and the QB finalist award will help them stand out. Some kids don’t want to limit their choices so early; if they are accepted during RD rounds, most QB partner schools offer FA that is very close to or the same as what is awarded when you’re matched with that school. If you don’t have a clear favorite school and haven’t finished your visits and research, it can feel scary to commit to a binding deal this early. So, those are some reasons and Artsy probably has her own…

Submitted my application and ranked my schools, Did anyone else finish their rankings or am I the only super early one here? Also how do you access the match agreement because I can’t open it.

@pcsram95 A combination of my EFC being around $1000 (like others have said it is harder to get matched with an EFC >0) and because I have a clear first choice so I am doing ED. I applied despite this because it forced me to finish essays in a timely manor, the free RD apps if I don’t get into my ED school and the possibility of being part of the Quest Scholars Network…

How much do assets affect your efc? My parents own like 40% of the business we manage. The value is like 700k but we still have to pay off 600k. We have no savings and we dont own a home and both of their salaries combine to be about 2k. Do you think I have an efc of 0?

How exactly do you calculate your EFC? Additionally, doesn’t 0 EFC vary across institutions? example: Yale may have a 0 EFC for a family making < 60k while Johns Hopkins may have a 0 EFC for a family making < 50k.

Help! So I ranked my school but I can’t find the actual match agreement form anywhere. the download match agreement form thingy just forwards me back to my application management page!

@dannyo95, on the main Application management page there should be a listing of your ranked colleges on the top-right. Directly under that is the link “Download Match Agreement PDF”.

Oh actually, I take that back. I just clicked on my link and it took me back to the main page as well. I guess it’s just a temporary glitch.

@pcsram95 - Yeah, it’s doing the same thing to me.

@IWillKill and others, your EFC will be calculated differently at different schools and yes, they do have different formulas and different cut-offs for FA categories. Best to run the Net Price Calculator at the colleges you are applying to. You will get a much better sense of what to expect, but nothing is firm until you get a FA offer in writing. IWillKill, from what you’ve reported here, with no savings, no investments, no home and the asset to debt ratio you’ve reported, it appears you have a good chance of coming up with a 0 EFC. But again, you really need to run the numbers bc there are other variables and each institution is different…

Yea now it says Match Agreement Form will be available to download shortly

Just a reminder to all Questbridge College Match applicants: whether you are planning to list or not, the match agreement forms are mandatory and due on the 14th (this Monday)!

Two more days… and our fate is sealed.

false. finalist dont mea shiet

It does and it doesn’t. It’s not as though our lives will lose meaning if we’re not selected, but being selected provides SO many opportunities.

Finalist status will save me hundreds of dollars.

who’s nervous for tuesday?!

How do we know if we’re selected? via email or our portal on their website or some other place?
Also, I applied for rd not college match, but the results come out on the same day, correct?
