Question About Accounting 1-Financial Dual Credit Course

Just for some background, I took Accounting 1 as a sophomore and I’m currently a junior. So, throughout my district, Accounting 1-Financial is a dual credit course. However, at my school, we do have the same Accounting 1 class (I know this because our course code is marked under the same dual credit course code under the same course description in our district course catalog), but it is not dual credit, and so it will not be marked as such on my transcript (it’s just a regular HS course). Now, the dual credit course is, as the name means, through a community college. This community college also offers a credit by exam option for Accounting 1 to get credit for the class.

My question is: If I were to take the credit by exam option for Accounting 1 and pass, could I put that somewhere on my college application and would the college I am applying to (flagship state schools or T20’s) note that as my completion of a college level course? In other words, would it be in the same category as completed HS dual credit courses?

You need to talk to your guidance counselor.

Ok…but could you at least tell me if colleges see any value in me receiving credit by exam corresponding to a regular course I took in high school?
