Question about AP tests.

Hello all,

I got accepted into my top choice and was wondering if I dont take any of my AP tests (or get 1’s) will it change my admissions status? Will it affect anything?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a severe case of senioritis. =P

Anyways, it's pretty doubtful that it'll affect your status.

You definitely don't need to take the tests. Two reasons to take the tests are:

1) to get advanced placement in your college if you score a 4 or 5

2) If you transfer to a different school later, but I don't think taking the AP would matter then.

If your high school is paying for them, you have nothing to lose. You never have to have the scores reported.

Take the tests. This will especially help you if you want to get a relatively high-paying tutoring job at some point.

I don't know if this applies for all schools, but at mine if we don't take the test then we don't get AP credit for the class, meaning no extra point for GPA etc. If I were to ditch all 5 of my APs my GPA would plummet and I think college would care a lot...potentially academic probation I suppose.

At the extremely competitive schools, they recalculate your gpa anyway and only include courses in the five major areas: English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Foreign Language. Just a comment. Still take the exams.
