I know the EA deadline is something like November 1, but my question is: does U of M only start making the EA decisions on that date, or do they look at/accept the applications turned in at the beginning (say, September) right when they're sent in?

I'm asking this because I'm wondering if I'll have time to take the September ACT (should my June ACT score not be sufficient) in time for EA (while still relaying the message that I'm sincerely interested in the school and am therefore applying early).

You’ll definitely have sufficient time to take the September ACT in order to apply EA.
Michigan used to use a different system of rolling admissions, so students could receive admission notification as early as they applied, but they switched to EA, so as long as you apply before November, you receive a decision by December 21. (Or that’s what the date was last year, I received my admission notification on the 17th). Everyone who applied EA received their admission notification within a span of a few days, not dependent on when they applied, but totally randomly.

I’d personally advise getting started on the application as early as possible, so as to perfect your essays, etc. but there is no discrimination between an application submitted in September or in November (as long as it’s by the deadline). I didn’t realize this last year, and applied the second week of September, only to find out the next week that I was National Merit Commended, and didn’t get to include this on my application as I had already submitted it. So I’d suggest getting started early but making sure it is thorough and testing again if necessary! Good luck and GO BLUE!

Thanks abk! For SAT, does Michigan accept Score Choice???

You definitely have time to take the ACT again although if I remember your score was high enough that it probably won’t matter if you do better. Last year no one heard until December 16 - much later than in prior years.

FEEEEEMMMAAAAALLLLLEEEE!

GOOOOODDDDD GRRRRAAAADEEESSSS!!

EENNNNGGGIIINNNEEEEEERRRINNNGGG!!!

Everything will be ok

haha, most people don’t see a 3.7 as being “good”

and my current ACT is a 31 but i want at least a 34! my problems are reading/science (which is basically another reading section with specifically scientific content)

Don’t read the science portion. Read the question then look at the graph needed to answer it, but don’t read the whole thing

Haha that’s what I already do
