I was recently accepted by Davis into the Electrical Engineering major, but right now I’m thinking of changing my major to another engineering major (so still in College of Engineering). I know it’s difficult to switch to an impacted major, but how hard will it be for me to switch from one impacted major (EE) to another engineering major?

Many students change their majors at least once during their time at UC Davis. However, all majors require that you complete program-specific requirements before entering the major. Additionally, many selective majors require that you fulfill substantial prerequisite coursework and maintain a certain GPA (typically 3.0 or higher) before applying for a change. These majors have especially strict coursework and GPA requirements, and it may be impossible for you to change to one of these majors if you were originally admitted to a different program.

thanks. cbf88, are you sure that changing majors in the same college (in this case college of engineering) requires me to only fill out a form? The quote from nate cali doesnt really say that and I can't find it on the UCD website.

Yeah, my friends who go to Davis and other UCs tell me it's as easy as filling out a form.

If you want to transfer into another college then you'll need to complete 1 graded quarter of courses and meet that college's gpa requirements in addition to the form. I asked the head of the college of biology at Davis this.
