Can you choose Hayden, but only if you can have low cost triple.

In other words, if he can't have a LCT at Hayden, we don't want the suite that is $3K more, he would rather have Rubin traditional. Anyone know anything about the LTC at Rubin, it's very cheap and that scares me. I really want to keep the room part of this equation as low as possible (under 10K)

My brother has a rent controlled apt near school that my son might be able to sublet from him in a couple of years. It seems like a bargain at $780 a month!

I would also like to know about the LCT's

yea, why IS low-cost housing at rubin a lot cheaper than at the other the dorms?

haha why? cuz it's crappier. simple. less money, worse dorms. in the most parts.

I have a bit of advice (kind of) for people who can't decide between Hadyen, Rubin, and Weinstein. My friend was having trouble making a choice (I wasn't, b/c I'll be a lonely commuter) between the three so we went to our friend who lives in Hayden. She's absolutely in love with Hayden (her room is one of the best on the floors and there's an amazing view). My friend who's trying to choose would like the kosher cafeteria and Weinstein has the convenience of the dining halls. However, if you're set on Hayden but want the convenience that Weinstein brings, note that Hayden is 4 minutes and 38 seconds away from Weinstein. Rubin is also pretty close. So yeah, that's my two cents.

^ i thought rubin was like 5 blocks away from that side of washington square park?

Rubin is about 5 minutes away from Weisntein, so it's a bit further from the Park. When I timed it, my friend was doing intense speed walking so yeah, it definitely depends on how fast you walk. If you want to be really close to the park, then Hayden is the closest, and Weinstein is pretty close - the walk to Rubin isn't that bad.

Well, if you want to keep costs down, shouldn't worry about it being 'scary'. LCTs in Rubin are perfectly fine. It's not like they're cheap because they're rundown or anything; they're just not that large, so you get less space per person.

I think choosing low cost housing takes priority over any specific dorm selection you do, but you should probably ask the housing office. They're the ones that make the rules after all.
